Donuts are unhealthy!
December 23, 2024 12:07 pm

Honestly, I think all donuts have ‘crossed the line’ on health! Store bought donuts especially are full of transfats, made with the white flour and tons of sugar! They should be eaten in moderation if at all.
Happy and Healthy Chanukah to all!

Honestly, the best doughnuts are homemade (the Morrocan sfinge is especially light and delicious). Spending time as a family making and eating doughnuts, lakes, playing draidel, singing maoz tzur together are all part of celebrating is the best ruchnius and gashmius combo! No need for weird or extravagant, but if you find it fun, by all means incorporate it somehow without overdoing it. Get a few fancy doughnuts to share etc. No need to make a big deal out of this!

You’re 100% right. In fact all the Chagim have been transformed into a crazy spree of buying gifts and eating as much fattening food as possible.
The gashmius comes before the ruchnius unfortunately.

Be quiet

Let people enjoy their lives and keep your thoughts to yourself please. Stop trying to educated others. Your supposed to enjoy the yom tov and if this makes someone feel simcha it’s just as big of a mitzvah as your “chassidus learning”

Actually donuts/fried dough in oil has been the minhag for years. There’s records of it happening in the time of the Rambam.
Potatoes, on the other hand, have only been on that side of the world from around the 16th century… Many, many years after the Chanukah story. But we still eat Latkes on Chanukah.
Both donuts and latkes are a Chanukah minhag then no?
Either way, everyone should have a good Chanukah begashmius uveruchnius!

The minhag of chanukah is fried food in oil, traditionally latkes and anything else fried. Donuts arent zionist and this isnt the time to bash zionism anyway while hostages are being held in gaza .Is Chinese food which has alos become popular also zionist?

My Biggest complaint against Zionism

They only have Donuts and Hamen Tashen during the Chanuka/purim season unlike the US where we have it year round. If they Fix that than all other issues will either be minimized or fall by the wayside 🙂

If you really want to get to the root and essence of it all,its actually not about donuts or latkes in particular but anything fried in oil. It’s about the oil! Latkes are traditional and so are donuts even if its a more recent one, but what we really remember is the oil.

They took alot of ideas from us back in time. So what do we do,punish ourselves for centuries by banning the ideas they copied from us so we shouldn’t be like them?

I begged Raskin’s FIsh Store to make donuts stuffed with gefitle fish, lox donuts and even sushi donuts. Donuts should be parave. Many are milchig on Chanukah so the fleishig donuts have limited use. But donuts stuffed with Swiss cheese topped with parmesan cheese are AMAZING!!

December 23, 2024 10:14 pm

If this is about olive oi and health, why don’t we eat a nice salad with crispy lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and celery to name a few? and of course with tons of olive oil! I rather have this than fattening unhealthy doughnuts

Do Marketing Stories Work?
December 24, 2024 9:12 am

The reaction to this story is so predictable! Oh the irony! The subject of this article is not the doughnut, it’s you; the consumer! Somewhat similar to the way Greek philosophy was designed to distract people away from Yiddishkiet.

BAN DOUGHNUTS!!
December 24, 2024 11:57 am

RFK needs to ban all doughnuts! People don’t know how terrible eating donuts is. I don’t care what filling you put 1. Glycemic Overload: Donuts are essentially vessels for refined sugars, causing a rapid spike in blood glucose levels. This can lead to insulin resistance, increasing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.* 2. *Trans Fat Traps: Many commercial donuts contain trans fats, which can raise LDL (bad) cholesterol levels, elevating the risk of cardiovascular disease.* 3. *Empty Calorie Epidemic: Donuts are essentially empty calories, providing little to no nutritional value while displacing more nutritious food options. This can contribute… Read more »
