There’s learning and then there is hands-on learning.
Students of Yeshivas Lubavitch in Toronto, Canada, got to explore one of the 39 activities prohibited on Shabbos in an up-close and engaging demonstration on Monday.
With the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Akiva Wagner present, a weaving loom was brought to the Zal learning hall to explain the concept of “Oseh Shtei Botei Nirin,” the process preceding the actual weaving.
Guided by maggid shiur Rabbi Mordechai Wilhelm, the bochrim had the opportunity to try out and thoroughly examine the loom and see the different concepts discussed in the Mishnah.
This is part of a ongoing effort by the hanholah of the yeshivah to bring alive the different melachos of Shabbos in order to make sure that the bochurim fully understand them, COLlive was told.
The bochrim walked away with a clear understanding of the different concepts discussed in the gemarah.
