Rabbi Manis Friedman, who has earned that prestigious distinction with over 5 million minutes of his talks and classes viewed being monthly on YouTube, has been picked up by one of the most recognizable and influential brands in terms of idea sharing, the online media giant TED.
TED gets billions of views, with its presenters delivering the now-famous TED Talks, short talks on a very wide range of issues and topics, from morality, science, and politics, to magic and art.
Rabbi Friedman, whose talks have profoundly affected and impacted countless people from all walks of life and on every corner of the globe, shared his message of selflessness and service of G-d at TEDxBeaconStreet, one of the most innovative TEDx events in the world that is run independently in Brookline, Massachusetts.
The title of his talk is “Living versus existing” and its message has been resonating with people.
“After listening to this twice to really get the full meaning and significance of the message, you have left me in a state of introspection and soul searching,” Beverley Reid commented on YouTube. “At 59 years old, am I living or existing? This is a good question to ask oneself at any age. I will be listening to this again and again as a gentle reminder to live and be appreciative of this beautiful gift that I have been given.”
Rabbi Zalman Friedman, Director of It’s Good to Know which distributes his father’s teachings, said: “This is just another indication that the world is becoming more receptive to hearing Torah’s morality and truth and in the end, this is what’s going to fix all the problems.”
“When you look around and see so many Shluchim and chassidim using the Internet and social media to spread Torah and Chassidus, it’s amazing how Torah has taken these media by storm,” he told COLlive.com. “This is all due to the Rebbe’s mandate to use every avenue possible for the teaching of Torah. And this is exactly what we’re doing at It’s Good To Know.
