“Some 30 years ago, I spent a summer at a Jewish girls’ camp in upstate New York. Although I was just a little girl without much of a Jewish education to speak of, I immediately fell in love with the daily routine of praying and singing. My hands-down all-time favorite activity, was singing the special 12 songs our counselors taught us. I committed every word to memory, perfectly! and after all these years, can still sing each and every one.
“We called these “jingles” the 12 Pesukim, but in the spirit of full disclosure, I had no idea what the word Pesukim meant. What I did know was that somehow, without logic, rhyme or reason, these Pesukim really resonated, so throughout the ups and downs of life, these 12 songs became my go-to mantras… I have carried them in my heart, chanted them aloud, and made some serious life decisions to their tunes.
“A number of months ago, during the unsettling Presidential Election, an announcement by your organization inviting women to a course called Simple Truths caught my attention. I figured, if something promises to be both simple and true in these times ii’s worth looking into….
“Tonight, as I celebrate the completion of this spectacular series, I begin a new journey anchored by these 12 deep, strong, spiritual messages. That summer I spent in Camp Emunah close to 35 years ago, has finally come full circle. Thanks to your lessons, the little girl within me still sings, but now we finally sing together in perfect harmony. Thank you for bringing me home.
“I am looking so forward to your upcoming course about Shabbat. I know my life will not only be enriched on the seventh day of each week, but on every day as well.”

The Rosh Chodesh Society, women’s division of the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI), has just completed its most successful course to date. Simple Truths, a seven-session learning series taught in 198 locations across the world, has united thousands of Jewish women in Torah study.
Inspired by the fact that this year, 5777, was the fortieth anniversary of the Rebbe’s introduction of the twelve pesukim campaign, the course was built on core Jewish ideas rooted in these twelve powerful verses.
“To witness these pivotal insights for centered living translate into action, has been a life changing experience and an enormous joy,” says RCS director Mrs. Shaindy Jacobson. “The feedback we’ve received from every corner of the globe, and every sector of society, is a true testament to the Rebbe’s campaign and its eternal, universal application to every individual.”
As Mrs. Mimi Kaplan, Shlucha to Franklin Lakes, NJ, so succinctly shared, “RCS has transformed women’s learning! The women are drawn into Torah study and are fascinated by how relevant and applicable it is to their daily lives. They live with the lessons from month to month. To me, this is an incredible realization of the Rebbe’s vision, of bringing every woman into authentic Torah learning!!”
These sentiments are echoed by Bobbie of Mequon, WI, student of Shlucha Mrs. Dinie Rapoport. “The Rosh Chodesh society is a great way to take Torah texts and apply them to our lives today. I love the way Dinie starts us off by asking insightful questions! This initiates such interesting discussions with our diverse group of ladies. It keeps me thinking long after class, creating excitement and an eagerness to read the additional texts at the end of each chapter. Please keep me posted about the next series. I’d love to attend the next fascinating series.”
Rosh Chodesh Society offers a new course every year, complete with a robust marketing and multimedia package, including PowerPoints and educational videos to accompany each lesson. Every lesson is text-based, intellectually rigorous and highly accessible, emphasizing student participation through discussion and chavruta-style learning.
In every RCS chapter around the globe, classes are given the week of Rosh Chodesh. The synchronicity of the program benefits both instructors and students: instructors can interact and share ideas through a virtual community created by an online forum, and students who travel can attend a class at any local RCS chapter.
Shluchos across every continent are part of the RCS family, incorporating high-caliber Jewish adult learning into their shlichus while giving the women of their communities the opportunity to meet and bond through the powerful shared experience of in-depth Torah study.
The Shlucha to Cypress, CA, Mrs. Bluma Marcus, keeps these words prominently displayed in her kitchen as a visual reminder of her mission: “These RCS classes inspire me to one day very soon have a Torah-filled home. When I think of “holy” I think of you, your classes, and your beautiful home permeated by sanctity. This is exactly what I want for myself and my future children”. This message was shared with Bluma, by Sabrina, a young adult who attends her Rosh Chodesh Society classes.
5,800 Women. 198 Communities. 1 Goal. Be a part of it. Join the celebration.
The Rosh Chodesh Society will launch its upcoming course, “Pause & Affect; A Shabbat Outlook,” in the early Fall. For more info, visit roshchodeshsociety.com/courses or email [email protected].
The video is lovely! Everyone’s contribution helped to create a delightful mini-vacation filled with joy and positivity. Would love to see the pesukim written in English and Hebrew with transliterations and citations, as well.
