Rabbi Tzvi Barnett is a veteran first grade rebbe, a master storyteller, and a sofer.
Rabbi Barnett taught first grade in Lubavitcher Yeshiva for over thirty years, instilling Yiras Shamayim in his students through his masterful telling of Torah stories, and Midrashim of the weekly Parsha.
Some may remember the Mesiba Shabbos gatherings for children held in the upstairs zal of 770 during the Rebbe’s farbrengens, which were led by Rabbi Shmaryahu Katzen A”H, Rabbi Moshe Schwartz, and Rabbi Barnett. Here, Rabbi Barnett would often entertain the children with stories.
Rabbi Barnett’s love for teaching through storytelling began over fifty years ago, in 1973, as a yeshiva bachur. Every Wednesday he would conduct a Released Time program for Jewish children in public school. He told stories from the “Teacher’s Guide” prepared by Rabbi J.J. Hecht A”H, and captivated his young listeners with his exciting dramatizations.
Over the years, through the art of storytelling, Rabbi Barnett has instilled a love for Hashem and His mitzvos in listeners of all ages.
Rabbi Barnett’s stories were first available on cassette tapes and then on CDs under the name Best Torah Stories. Now, Rabbi Barnett is digitizing his earlier stories, as well as releasing never-before-heard stories and Midrashic tales of the Parsha for all to enjoy.
