Last Sunday, 250 women gathered at Lubavitch Yeshiva hall to pay tribute to the dedicated volunteers of the Shifra and Puah organization in Crown Heights.
The organization, which assists new mothers in the community, has been operating for over 3 years, and has helped more than 400 women to date.
The evening, which included a full course dinner, was MC’d by Mrs. Chanie Kalmenson.
Following the reading of the Rebbe’s kapitul by Mrs. Bracha Sternberg, a video of the Rebbe was shown about the establishment of the original Shifra and Puah organization.
The guest speaker, Mrs. Ahuva Albrecht, recounted how after a blessing from the Previous Lubavitcher Rebbe, her grandmother miraculously had a child, who later married and gave birth to her and her brother, famed Israeli singer Dudu Fischer.
Later, a film produced by Chani Farkash was shown, which depicted the organization’s varied activities in the community.
The highlight of the event was a presentation by Yafit Yadgar and Chani Cohen, with a lighthearted comedic glimpse into the day of a new mother.
Finally, Mrs. Rachel Hendel spoke, which led to a spontaneous farbrengen.
Raffle winners were drawn at the event, with Mrs. Anat Hazan winning a necklace with a coin from the Rebbe and Mrs. Deren winning a Challah cover with cloth from the Rebbe and Rebbetzin.
The success of the event was due to the dedication of Michla Segal, Chani Farkash, Shlomit Slapochnik and Devorie Reinetz.
