A teen who is accused of allegedly violently attacking and robbing two Jewish boys in Crown Heights was arrested and charged on Thursday morning. He is being held on $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond, COLlive has learned.
The 16-year-old boy was arrested in the 77th Precinct area after he was identified in surveillance footage of the attack. He has at least 6 prior arrests, police said.
The teen was part of a group of 5 thugs who attacked and violently mugged two Jewish boys on Monday evening in Crown Heights.
The victims were walking on Albany Avenue near Crown Street at approximately 9:15 PM when the group of 5 black teens approached them from behind, police said.
The victims heard the teens say to ‘get them,’ before they approached one of the victims and demanded he give them what was in his pockets. They then punched him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground, police said.
Bystanders called Hatzalah, who transported the first victim to the hospital where he was treated for a broken nose and other broken bones in his face.
The NYPD 71st Precinct detectives are investigating the case, and are still searching for the other 4 perpetrators.
Rabbi Chanina Sperlin of the CHJCC says he and Rabbi Eli Cohen of the CHJCC and other community activists are involved to bring evidence of the violent nature of the attack, which left the victim heavily bruised with several broken bones in his face.
“The main thing is to make sure this does not happen again,” said Chanina Sperlin. “We demand that the NYPD add more protection in the neighborhood. Our children, our families, must be able to walk safely on our streets,” he said.
May the entire group be brought to true justice and such a thing never happen again!

If you say it’s never gonna happen again it has not stopped for the last 50 years that I remember living in this neighborhood. There’s not one week that goes by that we are not victimized either physically attacked or robbed packages and bikes, broken into cars. It does not stop. And I don’t know the solution.
When I caught a thief in my car, they took him away, was handcuffs. The next day he was out free to break into more cars. I found his knife that he pried open my glove compartment, which he ruined in the cost me a lot of money to fix I came to the VA and she said to me she’s not interested in the knife, so it’s all the fires they’re protecting the thieves and the crooks. They are not punishing them. They are not incarcerating them. The thieves have to pay the price. Otherwise they’ll never learn.
Please make sure to give credit to SHOMRIM. They worked (and still are working) hours and hours on this case and other cases too. Getting camera footage, meticulously combing through videos to help I.D. these criminals and pushing the NYPD detectives to follow through.

fear of a One Above needs to be ingrained
the laws that basically protect criminals need to change
the liberal wave that has spread like poison needs to change
the lack of fear in doing this and sense of entitlement in thinking they can just ask people to hand over their stuff
making them accountable needs to happen and and part of that should be a guided community service

The smallest injury is his facial injury. The deeper injury is trauma. I wish him a refuah shleima in all ways, as well as his friend who had to experience this horror. You need to do what Boro park did. The bordering neighborhood on 8 ave turned into an Arab Palestinian area. A twenty block span. There were attacks by them on jewish kids. Some innovative Jews turned the entire area into a Brooklyn China town. Now there are over 150 thousand Chinese surrounding Boro park and there is hardly any crime. Hope he spends his rightful time in prison and learns a lesson from it. What about the other people part of the clan? They should receive a punishment as well.

I would get the best lawyer out there, who is interested in a very noisy political case, and sue the authorities of NY, the ones who are not protecting, the ones who free the perpetrators without bail, the ones who make Jewish blood a Hefker.
Not only there is going to be big money here, but it will bring public attention to what is going on here and thus help the entire Jewish community.
My grandson who is in the victims class in Yeshiva told me it took 45 minutes for the cops to come
