He seemed to live the perfect life: In yeshiva he was one of Rabbi Rabinowitz’s “most important talmidim” (in the Rav’s own words), and at home he had 7 beautiful children. Little did those around him know that his ‘choshuve’ status could not protect him from tragedy. At home, the family lived in chaos. Ultimately, there was a messy and painful divorce. They came out on the other side with a father caring alone for his 7 deeply wounded children.
It was then that the kids’ severe health issues began. The young avreich did all he could to help his children but they slipped further into debt. He borrowed from creditors who continue to pummel him with death threats. He sold his apartment to make more, but it was not enough. The young father went to Rav Meir Sirota and Rav Rabinowitz for help, and the two rabbanim became very involved in their case. Unfortunately they were unable to undo the tremendous damage that had been done.
And so, Rav Sirota & Rav Rabinowitz sat down to come up with a plan.
A tzedaka fund has been opened for the talmid’s family, with statements from both Rav Sirota and Rav Rabinowitz. The two Torah learning giants are passionate about the cause: Rav Sirota gives his blessing to all donors that they “should merit success in all their endeavors, nachas from their children and only good, forever.” Rav Rabinowitz writes that “there is no limit to [donors’] merit in Heaven” for “literally saving [the talmid’s] life.”
Each day that the family does not receive the help they need, the health of the children worsens, and the father continues to be devastated by threats to their wellbeing. Readers are highly encouraged to help via their emergency fund.
