In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world, it has become increasingly important to offer children enriching experiences that foster personal growth, creativity, and a connection to nature. This is why I am excited to introduce you to The Shtetl – a one of a kind outdoor farming and building camp experience. A place where your child can explore, learn, and grow in a hands-on, cultivating environment.
At our camp; geared for the mainstream yeshiva boy, aged 13 – 16, your son will have the opportunity to immerse himself in the wonders of nature while learning valuable life skills, centered around the chayus of frum life on the farm. Our program is designed to blend the exciting spirit of a traditional sleepaway camp (learning, activities, trips….), with the practical and innovative learning experiences of farming and building. Each day, campers engage in activities that teach them about sustainability, teamwork, and problem-solving, all while having a fantastic time in the great outdoors.
Your child will get their hands dirty in our organic gardens, growing, and harvesting their own food. Help care for animals and collect their own eggs in the morning.
In addition to farming, our camp offers unique building projects that promote creativity and nurture achdus and ahavas yisroel. Under the guidance of skilled instructors, campers will work together to construct structures, learn about design, tool safety, and teamwork. These projects provide a sense of accomplishment, confidence and resilience as campers see their ideas come to life.
Our camp is not just an opportunity for your child to learn new skills. It’s a chance to become part of a vibrant group of like-minded youth. Campers will make memories and friendships as they work, play, and grow together; building a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect that last a lifetime. Our staff are dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and inspired to reach their full potential.
In conclusion, The Shtetl offers a one-of-a-kind experience that combines fun, education, and personal development. We invite you to give your child the chance to step away from screens, breathe fresh air, and embark on an unforgettable adventure. Enroll your son today and watch him thrive in a world where yiddishkite, nature, and creativity go hand in hand.
Don’t just take it from us – here is a letter sent in from a boy that went to the Shtetl. When asked what he would say to campers thinking about signing up, this is what he wrote.
“When I first heard of Camp Shtetl, I was very skeptical. I had never heard of a camp like it. What camp gives you an atmosphere of a homey environment and allows you to experience the importance of having responsibility? Don’t worry, it’s not just about animals. It’s also the feeling of a family vibe that is embedded within the camp. The Tannenbaums have a way of connecting to every single type of person, no matter who they are. You get to really understand the value of taking on responsibilities in areas you wouldn’t normally get to.
Personally, I’ve grown so much by experiencing this type of environment. I am grateful to be part of the family. The skills the kids have, living on the farm and being put to the test with different responsibilities is amazing. You only learn these skills when you’re put in a situation and given the opportunity to take on these responsibilities.
The way I’ve seen campers interact with each other, from not knowing each other at first, coming from different backgrounds, to becoming good friends and playing around, is really nice to witness. We all have our differences, but that shouldn’t stop us from feeling comfortable with one another. At first, I was hesitant but once I came, I soon realized that I had won the lottery. Even though things can be difficult, when you’re with people who teach you and make it easier, you realize anything becomes possible. I’ve seen new campers come and within a day or two, they feel at home and are part of the family. Most camps are about getting to know the campers, playing games, and going on trips. This camp has all of that and more. I am no longer hesitant. If you are, without a doubt I wouldn’t think twice before saying yes.”
We look forward to welcoming your son into our camp community and sharing an incredible summer together. For more information, feel free to reach out or check out our site CampShtetl.com
