“I made a hachlata to open a Kollel. Are you in?”
That’s Shloimy Greenwald. Always looking to start a new initiative in Torah. Actively promoting projects to better the community. Dedicating his time and effort to endeavors in Yiddishkeit.
When Shloimy suddenly fell ill just over a week ago, his friends and family discussed what measures they could take to promote his refuah. They did exactly what Shloimy would do: start a campaign!
With a goal of 15,000 Mitzvos, the campaign asked every individual to take on a mitzvah in merit of Shloimy’s swift and complete recovery. The writing of a Unity Sefer Torah was set in motion, encouraging the achdus and participation of the community. Shloimy had launched a similar initiative several year prior with “United for Protection,” and now, his community undertakes the same effort to protect him.
But the writing of a Torah alone wasn’t enough.
Anyone acquainted with Shloimy knows that he’ll put everything aside for Limmud HaTorah. Among the many initiatives he established, his Kollel, Kollel L’horaah Ma’asis, holds a special place in his heart. There, yungelite and aspiring Rabbonim could receive thorough training and study Torah in a serious and focused environment. In fact, preparations were already underway for a large scale fundraiser just before Shloimy underwent the medical emergency that left him in critical condition. Although Shloimy generally plays an integral role in raising funds for the Kollel, it was obvious that the campaign must continue despite his situation!
“It is crucial that the Torah study of our yungelite remain sustainable, especially at such a time,” Rosh Kollel Rabbi Sholom Shuchat told the community in a public statement.
As Shloimy has consistently shown tremendous generosity and support for community endeavors, we ask the community to do the same in his honor: contribute your tzedakah to Shloimy’s Kollel, and help upkeep the program during this challenging time.
Visit https://forshloimy.com/ to participate in any of the three initiatives launched for Shloimy’s recovery. With your help, the site will transform into an invitation for his seudas hoda’ah very soon!
Please continue to daven and perform mitzvos for Yosef Shlomo ben Risha.
