A 15-year-old Jewish girl who was standing and talking to a friend on Kingston Avenue on Motzei Shabbos was violently shoved by a black man.
The teen was standing with a friend on the corner of Empire Boulevard and Kingston Avenue at approximately 1:00 am, when she noticed a man who seemed disturbed and was talking to himself, approaching.
She attempted to move out of the way, but he approached her and violently pushed her.
The girl went home and called Shmira volunteer patrols, who began to search for the man. They were unsuccessful.
The NYPD are currently obtaining surveillance footage from the area buildings and will be using that to try to identify the attacker.
This attack is the most recent of many violent incidents in the past 3 weeks against Jews in the neighborhood carried out by non Jews. Attacks included a number of victims violently pushed as they walked on Kingston Avenue, a mugging at knifepoint and a Jewish man punched and thrown to the ground.
The NYPD Hate Crimes unit is investigating some of the attacks.
In response to the recent incidents, the NYPD informed that there will be six additional patrol cars every day in the areas that have experienced the most incidents, with additional officers assigned to Kingston Avenue on foot.

How come when a women gets attacked tznius always comes up, and men have been attacked to in CH, early when they come home from Shul on a Friday night, and then nobody says its Tznius, nobody has the right to attack anybody, There are a lot of Mentally ill people that live in this community, and just as the cops drive around in cars that you don’t even know it is a cop inside just so they can catch you to give you a ticket , they should walk around CH and try to catch these people, so they… Read more »
I agree about the decoy thingy, but tznius has nothing to do!!! It doesn’t matter how people dress, and no rabbi said it needs to be 4 inch. below the knee! as long as it covers its fine!!!
and to everyone else, it doesn’t matter if they go out at midnight. it does obviously, and it might have been they were there not for nothing but for a reason but nothing to do with these crazy anti – semites!!!!
Yes crown heights is a place of BROCHA.
But a Brocha cannot work if there is a rebellion against shemayim where girls are not dressed tznieus.
The blessing of the Torah is conditional. IF we walk in the ways of the Torah there would be peace.
We don’t need photo ops and congratulate the police for the horrible job they doing to protect us, we need ELECTIONS and new vaad with representatives that care about our community
You all must have pepper spray and that makes a 100 pound 15 year old able to incapacitate a 300 pound 50 year old. Sabre Red pepper spray or gel from my extensive research online is the best product. I bought the stuff for my wife and child now in Cheder in Connecticut.
I’ve had friends that expressed similar sentiments . Comes Tishrei , events , special shabbosim etc. That’s when the calls come in for a place to stay..
But…. but…. the vaad hakol had a meeting with the NYPD to tell them what a good job they are doing
Your first part is absolutely true.
YES there is a tzinius ISSUE in CH.
BUT, what does that have to do with the problem at hand????
Why are Lubavitchers building homes EXCLUSIVELY for mentally disturbed people?????
LOOK at east new york ave from troy to utica!!!!!
Yes, you should be very proud of yourself that you have forsaken the shchunah that the Rebbe boosted and encouraged EVERYONE to stay in, proclaiming what his father in law, the previous Rebbe coined “kan tzivah Hashem es Habracha”.
If I were you I would keep a low profile.
Tachtical advantage over the potential attacker is when you can decide what to do faster than the attacker. When you do something new or unexpected the attacker has to mentally register the change in the situation and modify their evil plan, so if you a moving, walking fast its harder for them to plan to attack you. If they see you are aware of them they know they do not have this tachtical advantage and may decide their evil plan will not work. Situational awareness together with maintaining distance, and being ready to do something unexpected make it hard for… Read more »
First of all it was 1145, and second of all the girls were just dropped off from production practice.
People that live in Crown Heights seem to be insane. Normal people don’t wander the streets at 1am. For some reason, Crown Heights residents think it normal for single girls (and guys) to wander the streets at all hours of the night. Maybe if they’d start behaving a bit more responsibly, these issues would drop…
Its good to learn Situational Awareness and practice hip turning off the center line of the attacker, defense tools like small flashlight etc need to on your person, and practice the draw.
Why don’t the police and community leaders do something for a change?
I just wonder what exactly they are doing besides driving sedans and SUV painted with police colors?
Why aren’t they patrolling the streets,
Maybe it’s another way to get grants from the government .
We don’t need photo ops and congratulate the police for the horrible job they doing to protect us, we need ELECTIONS and new vaad with representatives that care about our community
You need undercover cops dressed as Chassidic decoys. Also female cops as decoys. The question is if there are homless shelters nearby that house mentally unbalanced individuals. The police can easily track criminals because they have reports from other victims as well be they yuppies or blacks. You need rallies several times a week to put the pressure on. You need more cameras. But you also need women to dress tznius. There is a serious breakdown among young women in Crown heights and flatbush who are wearing short skirts in public. We all know there is a shidduch crisis among… Read more »
BS”D They see that NOTHING happens so it keeps going on. Wonder why in BP and Williamsburg don’t hear of such things occuring
Again, I think there should be a police/shmirah guy on EVERY CORNER, or at least on every block. This is crazy, every time I go on COL there’s yet ANOTHER story. Do something about this, letting them get away with it is gonna help NO ONE. You have to take matter in your own hand cuz CLEARLY Crown Heights doesn’t care about security. I say everyone should carry around pepper spray.
If the purpose of posting these articles is to make is aware- it has. So what exactly is the continuing purpose? Maybe with a platform this big collive can play a role and help make a change.
Whilst I understand it doesn’t justify the pushing.
However what can be done to stop our teenage kids from being on the streets at 1 am R”L. May Hashem protect us and our children.
After bringing the homeless and the mentally unstable into housing within Crown Heights, starting with the Albany/Winthrop areas, Nostrand/Rogers etc – what do you expect?!
on a different note, what is a 15yo girl doing on the streets at 1 am
My friend was punched last week on Kingston and Empire by a black man. I think it was Friday. She didn’t report it to anyone though because she didn’t think anything could be done about it. People need to be encouraged to report these incidents so that the police keep up their presence on Kingston Ave. But I notice that there are more police closer to Eastern Parkway. By Empire often there aren’t police officers. That’s probably why attacks keep happening there.
