Kesser Torah College, an Orthodox Jewish day school in Sydney, Australia, held a special camp named Camp Simons in honor of Zev and Rochel Simons obm, a former faculty member and parent of the school who tragically passed away in 2008 in a car accident.
The camp was organized by YG Shluchim, a group of bochurim Shluchim from Melbourne who came to Sydney to run the camp and share their enthusiasm and inspiration with the participants. The camp featured various activities, such as games, trips and sports, as well as davening and Torah study.
One of the highlights of the camp was a special musical performance by Zevi Litzman, a talented singer and guitarist who entertained the crowd with his songs and stories on Motzei Shabbos. Another highlight was the delicious food prepared by head chef Chaim Greenwald, who served a variety of dishes that satisfied everyone’s taste buds.
The camp was a success and received positive feedback from the participants, who expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to honor the memory of Zev and Rochel Simons, who were described as kind, caring, and devoted members of the Jewish community. “It was a truly beautiful and inspirational camp and I’m sure it uplifted the Simons who are looking down happily from Gan Eden,” one camper said.
