A suspicious package was received at the Young Israel Synagogue in Bal Harbour, Florida, on Monday morning, containing anti-Semitic rhetoric and threatening photos.
The package was delivered by USPS, and contained a DVD, a photo of someone pointing a gun and pages filled with anti-Semitic writing, sources told COLlive.
“It must be known that the Jewish community will NOT cower in fear. We stand strong, united, and proud,” Bal Harbour Mayor Gabriel Groisman tweeted.
Surfside and Bal Harbour Police are investigating.
This incident occurred only a day after a shooting outside the Young Israel of North Miami Beach on Sunday evening. A Jewish man was shot 6 times in front of the Synagogue by a man who drove by in a black sedan. Police are still searching for the shooter.
I can confirm that Young Israel of Bal Harbour received a suspicious package this a.m. w/threats & anti-Semitic rhetoric. It must be known that the Jewish community will NOT cower in fear. We stand strong, united, and proud. Thank you Surfside & Bal Harbour PDs for your response. pic.twitter.com/1kxmmECUkr

The best place to strap a gun without a shabbos problem is around… Read more »
How many more acts of anti-semetism will the Jewish community tolerate, before we say “should have, could have” and Enough is Enough? Did we not learn the lesson of 72 years ago? These are the exact same trends and events leading up to the Holocaust
Where is the outcry? Where are the Jewish community Relations folks? Federation leadership? politicians? Rabbinic leadership? Where are the demonstrations, protests? rallies? Campaigns?
Why is there such complacency within the Jewish community? Do we really and truly feel that safe… REALLY? Well, so did the Jews of Germany!
