After two years, snow began to fall in Jerusalem on Wednesday afternoon after the Golan Heights, the Upper Galilee and the mountains of central Israel got their fair share of snowfall, YNet News reported.
The snow is predicted to continue through Thursday’s early morning hours.
The worst of the weather was still to come as the storm was set to last for the rest of the week, with heavy rains, accompanied by thunder and lightning, beginning in the coming hours and lasting throughout the night.
Powerful gusts of wind will reach speeds of up to 80 km/h (50mp/h) and heavy snow will fall in northern and central Israel.
Many like to speak of pesukim in Yeshayahu when snow is seen in Yerushalayim.
“Come now, let us debate, says the L-rd. If your sins prove to be like crimson, they will become white as snow; if they prove to be as red as crimson dye, they shall become as wool. If you be willing and obey, you shall eat the best of the land. But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword, for the mouth of the L-rd spoke.”
