TheYeshiva.net has launched a non-conventional Halacha course, which for the first time will synthesize the intricacies of Jewish law with its spiritual and psychological depth.
World renowned Rabbinic authority, Rabbi Levi Wineberg from Johannesburg, the Rosh Kolel of the Mizrachi Kolel, who serves also the dean of a Beis Mindrash to ordain Rabbis, presents here for the first time the practical laws of Shabbos, but infusing them with their Chassidic and spiritual interpretation.
“In recent years, the study of Halacha has become somewhat weakened in our circles. Many of our creative young mind prefer the mystical world of Kabbalah and Chassidus, or opt for a life of activism, yet abandon the intricate study of Halacha which they find it to be tedious,” said Rabbi YY Jacobson, dean of TheYeshiva.net.
“Yet nothing is further than the truth. The intricacies of Halacha contain within themselves the full majestic spirit of Yedeishkeit,” he said. “There is no real understanding of Judaism and of Chassidus without a mastery of Halacha. This new series will demonstrate how each law mirrors and reflects some of the richest and exciting ideas in Chassidus,” Rabbi Jacobson said.
“Many of our Halachik figures are not into Chassidus, and conversely, many scholars of Chassidus are unfortunately ignorant in Halacha. This has caused great damage,” Jacobson believes. “Our inspirational figures are not seen as masters of Halacha. Sadly, a subtle split has developed between the two worlds.”
The Rebbe lamented many times that people are not delving into the study of Shulchan Aruch, especially the Alter Rebbe’s Shlchan Aruch. We need to mend this. Rabbi Wineberg, who is a master in both, is the right person to begin the process,” says Rabbi Jacobson.
Hence, in honor of Yud Tes Kislev, liberation day of the author of the Shulchan Aruch, a new type of course on Jewish law is being launched here on COLive.com and on TheYeshiva.net.
Rabbi Levi Wineberg is the author of Lessons in Tanya, and a well-known Halachic scholar and authority. Every Sunday evening he will present a new Halacha class on TheYeshiva.net and on COLlive. In these classes, you will discover practical Halacha, plus get a dosage of spiritual inspiration.
The first three classes, over the next three Sundays, will cover “Jews and Juices:” the laws of “Squeezing” (Sechita) on Shabbos. Can you squeeze a lemon into your tea? How about onto your fish? Or into your plate of Humus?
The classes are also available in MP3 and MP4. And they come with a PDF curriculum. Please scroll down to watch.
Thank you for posting! spiritually and intelectually uplifting!!!
I think it means to explain the meaning of each halacha in the light of Chassidus. Of course it is the same halacha for all of Kelal Yisroel. but Chassidus reveals a certain spiritual meaning to each Halacha. See the wording of the Rambam end of Hilchos Temurah, and the same applies here.
kol hamosif goreah!
His father is the author. He did the translation to english
the neshomo of the torah, and you will know the emes.
