American conservative activist and political commentator Charlie Kirk was shot dead by a gunman while he was addressing a crowd at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
Kirk was 31, married, and a father of 2 children. He was one of the rising stars of the conservative movement, founding the Turning Point USA nonprofit organization to advocate for conservative politics in schools and offshoot political action committees.
He was speaking at an outdoor event to a crowd of people on the college campus in Orem, Utah, when he was shot once in the neck. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
U.S. President Donald Trump later announced that Kirk had died. “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika and family. Charlie, we love you!” he wrote.
As an evangelical Christian, Kirk supported the Jewish state of Israel and its right to defend itself against its enemies. “Israel changed my life,” he wrote after a visit to the Holy Land. “Made the Bible pop into reality, and gave me the most precious memories with my wife.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote: “Charlie Kirk was murdered for speaking truth and defending freedom. A lion-hearted friend of Israel, he fought the lies and stood tall for Judeo-Christian civilization. I spoke to him only two weeks ago and invited him to Israel. Sadly, that visit will not take place.”
Yet, true to the American-first stance of younger conservatives, Kirk took a more nuanced stance on his support of Israel. In June 2025, he opposed the U.S. joining Israel’s attack on Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
Despite his pro-Israel views, Kirk has faced accusations of antisemitism. In April 2025, he accused “Jewish communities” of “pushing the exact kind of hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them.” He also claimed that “some of the largest financiers of left-wing anti-white causes have been Jewish Americans.”
Former New York State Assemblyman and Jewish activist Dov Hikind wrote: RIP to an American treasure. Tragic day for our country.”
The Orthodox Union (OU) wrote: “What has become of us? Today, September 10, is a day for our nation to strengthen its internal bonds as we prepare to commemorate the devastation brought upon America by enemies who continue to threaten us. Instead of coming together, we have witnessed another horrific act of political violence, another effort to tear our country apart. This must stop. We pray for the family of Charlie Kirk and for the future of the United States of America.”
Rabbi Steven Burg, Chairman of the Aish outreach organization, wrote: “Aish, the Jewish people, and the pro-Israel community deeply mourn the senseless assassination of Charlie Kirk. He was a steadfast ally of Israel and a courageous advocate for our people.”
Fellow conservative commentator Ben Shapiro, who is a proudly observant Jew, wrote: ”Like all of you, I am utterly stunned and heartbroken and sick to my soul today. It is unimaginable to write these words. I met Charlie Kirk when he was 18 years old, a young man so eager and determined that I immediately turned to a friend and said, “That kid is going to be the head of the RNC one day.”
“Charlie became even bigger and more important than that. It was a privilege to watch this principled man stand up for his beliefs and create the single most important conservative political organization in America. But more importantly, Charlie was a good man, a man who believed in right and wrong, who stood by his Biblical values. All of us will miss him, and I can’t imagine the pain of his beautiful young family, and we must all pray for them. And we must pick up the baton where Charlie left it, fighting for the things he believed in so passionately. And we must fight for a better America – an America where good people can speak truth and debate passionately without fear of a bullet. I weep for Charlie’s family, and I weep for my country today. Most of all, I weep for Charlie.“

This hit me hard
Let’s we can to bring Moshiach. Shocked and: So sorry for this loss, for his wife and children… There are so many tragedies we aware of. We must turn to Hashem and do our part.
Maybe it’s the time for a worldwide day of prayer- everybody in every country, in every language, all in a 24 hour period, united in asking for Divine assistance. When people finally get heartsick enough and fed up enough with our inability to heal ourselves and our world, ,they’ll be ready to try something that’s never been done before
I was beyond shocked when I heard , and plain scared. Then when I heard he was shocked back to life I started crying from relief – and now he is actually dead. It is not normal and not okay. He is great , extremely intelligent man. And people think oh we don’t have to care as much because he isn’t Jewish but no it’s the same thing. Extremely painful and unbelievable. Poor family
And of course we could care and anyone saying they don’t care because he isn’t Jewish shame on them. That’s exactly right he wasn’t Jewish and YET he cared about US!

Why is the death of a guy and a divisive one at that trigger more outrage than a terrorist attack in Jerusalem
Disgusting and vile
What a lovely sentiment.
Who said there isn’t outrage during an Israel terrorist attack? But this guy was someone people have watched speak and feel a personal connection to. It’s really scary and traumatic.
I get the feeling when there is a terrorist attack that we’ve become numb we need the same outrage when are brothers and sisters get butchered
As this in your face devicive guy
It’s a shame we have yidishe people who look up to him
They must be lacking something in their own life
By the way I condemn violence of any sort from right to left
And violence from left to right
He was a voice for our fellow brothers and sisters in israel and he wasnt numb to it .
He spoke against pro oalestine and defended our brothers and sisters and fellow jews and Israelis
On your lack of ahavas Yisroel
And closed mindedness
The only one closed minded is you because you dislike people who disagree with your woke right wing bigot views
And to the left wing bigots i say the same thing stop being closed minded people are allowed to disagree
It’s a shame that comments like this are being said because he stood for our family while we sat here saying how could we look up to him
It Seems you are taking the talking points of the left of young guy who just got assassinated actually you are repeating the words of MSNBC so let me be doubtful concerning your “ outrage” for the horrible Palestinian terrorist attack in Jerusalem
that’s why.
it might be uncomfortable , unfortunately, that we do feel that way and you’re right, we should feel more outraged about the terror attack in israel
Our Rebbeim spoke in positive terms. See the praise on president Truman’s election. More than positive.
you dont care about MOSHIACH. how can you make such a stupid statement ??
The reason why you’re hiding your name saying that. We are equally outraged.
You have no heart . Go read up on him you fool .
Maybe he should not have allowed that leftist lunatic to have a gun?
The only fool is you who sat and listened to him all day
I was learning chasidic teaching and you listened to Kirk as if he was some mashpia
Hold up who ever said that there was no reaction. They’re are both not better than the other it is just the fact that rn this seems to be more talked about
Are you outraged, sir? I feel like you need to work on being outraged
I get outraged when innocent children get killed in school mass shootings across the us
Charlie was not innocent and he didn’t deserve to die i didn’t worship guns like him
He shared most of our values
And he was shot for it
We all are targets too
Be careful out there
Don’t think it can’t happen to us
Scaring people doesn’t help
When Yaakov Avinu’s life was under threat
He prepared in three ways.
We already tried the first.
Plan accordingly.
And realize what is going on.
Living in denial is the same as committing suicide.
Life can be scary.
Living in denial is even scarier.
Take responsibility for yourself and your loved ones. Make the keili and daven hard.
Who decided that he shares “most of our values”?
I’m a Chabad chassid and he certainly does not share MY values.
Enough with right wing Jews conflating RW values with Jewish let alone chassidishe values.
They are worlds apart.
We have so much beautiful inspirational teachings why do we need to seek it out from others.
What he preached was sheker and ugliness. It’s sad he died and violence is not the answer. But the causes he dedicated his life to are a far cry from what a chassid aspires to.
…if your “chassidishe values” include things like mutilating children and supporting terrorists, then yes, I guess he didn’t speak for your “values.”
You call yourself a Chabad Chossid but the Rebbe would not look at it at all that way. The Rebbe preached to the umos haolam and their leaders basically everything that Charlie stood for. Even though he believed in someone else other than Hashem, he shared his belief the way the Rebbe would have approved. Put your ego aside and be respectful to a man that sacrificed his life for the greater good. Just because he didn’t share “your values” wtvr you say they are doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve respect and honor. He was a mensch and loved everyone… Read more »
What on Earth are you talking about? Charlie stood for traditional values, getting married young, having kids, being religious. He stood up for us more than many so-called jews — he didn’t have to and could have remained silent like most. Shame on you and your comment
Shocking and horrific.
What has the world come to?!
He fought for us and our values. Really sad day for this country.
No.
He was not fighting for OUR values.
Enough already with exalting this person!
Oh cmon u know he was so stop and understand that this was not ok and it is a massive loss
“Despite that” who in the world cares, he was pro this he wasn’t pro that, despite that?!
Everyone should condemn this whether he’s pro Israel or not. What in the world
This is what I was thinking
This is so unreal, I feel like a piece of America died. We need ammo boys!!!
I’m crying. I love Charlie Kirk. Can we please start a prayer chain? I want our father to hear our prayers. 🕯🕯🕯🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️💔💔💔
Stop this nonsense!!! Send in the National Guard into the whole country!!!!!
We don’t need to no national garbage we need to learn how to respectfully disagree
And get the guns and drugs off are streets
More guns please, but just in the law abiding citizens hands.
Will make the criminals think twice before they slaughter the innocent
He fought all his life to make more guns available to more people and said mass shootings were a small price to pay for the freedom to own guns.
He sacrificed his life for a cause he loved. True mesiras nefesh for guns! No hypocrisy there.
Stop with your insensitive comments!
You are bothering a lot of us
If you are bothered then the problem is with you not me if you sat and learnd chasidic teaching you would not be filled with shtusim like listening to Charlie or profanity on fox
Again i condemn all forms of violence from the right and left
Both are disgusting and despicable
And I won’t apologize for calling Charlie a smug in your face provocator
Because the Left can never win in the arena of ideas.
Fox News reports Eva Terry, eyewitness at 8:50 pm approx said shooting was preceded by question about trans shooters and then a second question about mass casualty shooters and then the gun shot. There was a a video of a guy on the roof visible in cell phone video….seems like questions were coordinated to precede shooting.
The whole Q&A session was officially about school shootings… The specific question wasn’t necessarily relevant – the last question was actually when charlie was asked how many mass shootings there were he replied “does that include gang related” before the student could answer he was shot
He often talks about how having reported from war to countries, seeing firsthand what it’s like to live in the midst of violence, thats its somthing no one wants, and once pandoras box is opend what comes out cannot be put back in so easily.. The left has called for the death of everyone who hasent taken the vaccine, apologized for trans mass shooters , and the killer of the young ukranian girl in charlotte NC… They have developed a taste for blood… and soon they will be back in CH, masked and armed…. The question is what is the… Read more »
For anyone on the left, whether or not they had anything to do with this shocking murder.
Imagine quoting Tim (millions in russian money) Pool in the big ’25?
are you over the age of 16? This is embarrassing for you as an adult to say, lol.
Some serious shooters out their. Laura Loomer needs protection NOW!
I’m shaken.. may his family find comfort.
Love the way he answered the mixed up kid!
These people are fed lies about Israel.
Mr. Kirk answered in a confidence and Truthful manner!!!
Where is there another non Jew who tells the truth about the war!?
So sad that someone has to resort to killing instead of talking!
from the way these comments and haspeidim are being written here about this person who did something good for the Jews sounds like its worst then OCt 7th.
this is not lubavitch, and this is not hat we represent.
he might have done something good for the Jews but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be emotionally attached to this guy
The comments here are so sad.
Something tragic happened. A very good soul got taken away. A soul that fought for our safety and people. And all you all do is bash each other and disrespect! If you really want Mashiach, like a true chassid, then stop speaking so disrespectfully to your people and about the people that are defending us. Just because its anonymous it doesn’t mean you can be so rude and nasty in your comments… family needs to stick together and love. Moshiach Now.
There are a lot of very conflicting and diverse comments here. No need to go to any extremes. I think most of us have a healthy sense of common sense and let’s try to use it. Here’s mine: 1. The fact that he was shot shocked the entire nation- raw emotions were spilled. He was full of life and shot down like that. 2. Our natural, healthy reaction should be shock and condemnation. There is a serious epidemic of violence in this country and the Rebbe addressed a very very similar scenario when Reagan was shot. We must call this… Read more »
