The Sinai Scholars program of Chabad on Campus in Melbourne, Australia, led by Rabbi Mendy and Lifshy Ajzenszmidt, celebrated the closing ceremony of “Think Jewish,” the flagship course of the Sinai Scholars Society.
During the course, University students at Chabad on Campus of Melbourne’s academic club spent eight weeks discussing, debating and applying the ancient texts of Torah to modern-day living.
The course culminates with participants writing either a research paper or an essay on the topic of their choice, thereby furthering their own Torah ideas.
In their course reflections, Think Jewish graduates said the course was fulfilling, captivating and “unforgettable.”
“The program was everything I had hoped for and more. and I cannot wait to continue learning and spending time with the group of fellow students I have met as well as Rabbi Mendy and his incredible wife Lifshy.
“My Sinai Scholars experience was so fulfilling and captivating. Every lesson explored many angles of Judaism and taught me many things I did not previously know. Meeting with the group every week was an exciting time and something that I felt myself looking forward to.
“The Sinai Scholars experience was truly unforgettable, and I often find myself longing for another shiur with the amazing group of people I was lucky to share my experience with.
“Thank you for giving me this opportunity.”
– Shelly Makhlin
“When I signed up to participate in this course I had no idea what to expect. I thought maybe I would learn one or two facts about Judaism that I did not know before but low and behold I gained so much more than a fact or two. I learnt about the Torah, I learnt about Love, I learnt about charity but most importantly I learnt about me.
“A highlight of the program was surely the practical aspect to it.
“Often I think of Judaism as so spiritual and hard to grasp but by engaging in activities that put what we learned into action really helped me connect with what we were learning in class.”
– Eliza Wingreen
“I enjoyed all of the classes and it was wonderful being having dinner with all of my fellow classmates every week for eight weeks. I feel like this was an invaluable experience and I would highly recommend that anyone else who hears of the program should join it.
“I believed that learning more about the religion, I would be able to pass on the knowledge that I had gained throughout the program unto my fellow community members.”
