The Deaf Speak Out

In a frank monologue, Lubavitch bochur Yehoshua Soudakoff tells Ami Magazine what it's really like to be Jewish and deaf. Plus: Do's and Don't's when interacting with the deaf.

I've never met you but..
...I make sure to click on articles about you whenever I see something. I really commend the work you are doing and admire your determination and accomplishments. I am on shlichus and while I have not met a Jewish deaf person yet, I am so grateful that I have somewhere to direct them if and when I meet someone.

WOW!
Very appropriate for the end of Pesach -- Not only did this beautiful young man go out of his own meitzarim, he is showing *us* how to break out of our self-imposed limitations, i.e. to interact with deaf Jews we meet in the future. Bravo!

BEST OF LUCK IN ALL YOUR ENDEAVORS
Just because you are deaf-or whatever else you may have that the Jewish community doesn't want to accept, doesn't make you any less Jewish or less of a person.
