A shooting was heard in the heart of the Crown Heights neighborhood on Monday, alarming local residents.
Witnesses reported hearing 4-5 shots on Crown Street near Brooklyn Avenue at a few minutes before 9:00 PM.
The shooting occurred just steps away from a Crown Heights school, and on a heavily residential block.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the shooting, the NYPD said.
Police believe the shots may have been fired in connection with a gang member who lives on the block, Chanina Sperlin of the Crown Heights Jewish Community told COLlive.
Shell casings were recovered from the scene and a description of the shooter was reported to Shmira Volunteers, who are canvassing the area with the NYPD.
The NYPD said they will be adding extra patrols in the area.

i heard it and it was 3 gunshots. wow news gets so dramatized
I heard 6
Whatever doesn’t matter how much , there was shooting that’s the poing
How many
same difference
What is the difference as to how many shots fired?! One shot is enough!
Crown heights is not safe anymore !
Face the reality!
My bother was there and said he clearly heard 4 shots, and his friend said he might have heard 5 but he’s not sure
@ “wrong”
how can you call someone WRONG, when you got the info second hand, and that person you heard it from is “not sure” how many shots rang out. lol
I head 25. WHAT DOES IT MATTER??? I was actually there and I heard 7. But it doesn’t matter
Didn’t get a thing
Where’s the Vaad Hakohol.
Too busy apologizing to the Black community for a Jew doing a stupid thing to a guy in a wheelchair when black guy attack the jewsih gy on albany ion shabbos no black commutiy members standing up saying it was worn
maybe arrest “gang members” that are known and located before a shooting takes place on their block…
And sue 421 Crown St, Brooklyn, NY 11225 for discriminating against Jews by deliberately declining applications from Jews to purchase apartments in this federally subsidized building.
There is a case for a federal discrimination lawsuit here against 421 Crown Street
I wanted to get a section 8 apartment and was told I have to many kids for a 3 bedroom, go figure 😫
No, we need to rally about a jewish father who pushed someone in an argument to protect his kids. Way more important of an issue. **sarcastic**
That’s a much too reasonable response!?!
The Management of 421 Crown St
Brooklyn, NY 11225 is anti-Semitic, this building receives federal funding for low income co-op sales, and they refuse to sell any apartments to Jews that qualify (many have tried to purchase in the past) all Crown Heights attorneys & lawyers should be suing 421 Crown St, Brooklyn, NY 11225
Someone needs to apply for this vacant unit. I know excellent lawyers who would be glad to take on this sale if was denied. Donald is the President and DOJ works for him, very user now . Case in point. A group of Chasideshe Yiden bought 2000 acres near Sackett Lake to build 100’s of homes there. The developers have been battling the town leadership for nearly 10 years to build to no avail. Hearings and excuses but no resolution. Two months ago, an announcement was made by the US Dept of Justice that they will be launching a sweeping… Read more »
Everyone remembers during COVID-19 the attack against the Jewish community from 421 Crown Street

As all residents on the block remember, there was a gang related shooting three years ago at 421 Crown St

Currently there is an apartment in this building for sale at 421 Crown St Apt #16R, all you need to do is apply for this apartment, have the anti-Semitic co-op board reject your application because you are Jewish, then have an attorney file a federal discrimination lawsuit on your behalf against 421 Crown St. It’s easy money.
Here’s the listing details to apply
https://streeteasy.com/building/421-crown-street-brooklyn/16r?
Currently there’s an co-op for sale, apt #16R in 421 Crown St. apply for this apartment, if you get rejected then there’s basis for a federal discrimination lawsuit against 421 Crown Street for not accepting Jews (they rejected every Jewish application to date). And if miraculously a Jew gets approved, then it’s a good thing for the community
Oh really shooting.
And we aren’t calling for a peace rally’ or something like the other incident.
They are testing the waters to see who they are playing with and know they will get away with it, the community probes to them they can do whatever and we are ok with it so much so that we will even be on their side and say we are in the wrong.
(Not saying pushing someone is okey -not defining your own isn’t)
What the Rebbe would say now about continuing to live in crown heights?
(I was raised here, and am afraid to live here with a family)
Are we gonna have a peace protest at Bank of America again?
Absolutely not, shooter was black.
This is possibly connected to a previous shooting at 421 Crown Street, which took place on January 28, 2022. In that incident the NYPD released super clear wanted photos of the suspect, the photos were all over the media. maybe the 71st Precinct should check those photos to see if it matches the shooter from yesterday at 421 Crown
Ok, so a jew gets into an altercation to protect his kids and our comm leaders setup a rally condemming him. But when a black man wildly fires a fatal gun with wanton disregard for our communities safety, we hear crickets from the so called “community leaders”. Shame on them.
This is the source of the real problem in crown heights
How much money does anyone know they get from the government? Supposedly the crown heights community council helps the poor and needy but it seems many in need are thrown to the sidelines and it’s not allocated properly.
so sad to see what people would do to make houses affordable! SOMEONE SHOULD BUY OFF THE BUILDING ON CORNER TO KEEP US SAFE. THIS IS NOT FIRST TIME SHOOTIMG!
Prices have double in the past few years, what are you talking about??
