Debuted at the Shifra & Puah Partnership Dinner, a creative new video traces the legacy of the Hebrew midwives across generations—while unveiling meaningful raffle opportunities tied to the campaign’s goal.
A creative and emotional highlight of the recent Shifra & Puah Partnership Dinner in Crown Heights was the debut of a unique video that quickly became the talk of the evening.
Filmed in the popular “Selfie Skip” style, the video takes viewers on a journey across generations. The storyline opens in ancient Egypt, where the original midwives, Shifra and Puah, send a young emissary named Sarah on a mission: to see whether, thousands of years later, Jewish women are still carrying forward their legacy of chesed for new mothers.
With one playful “skip,” Sarah travels from the sands of Egypt to present-day Crown Heights. Through kitchens, homes, maternity wards, and community centers, she discovers a powerful answer: the spirit of Shifra & Puah is very much alive.

Along the way, the video highlights the remarkable scope of the organization’s work:
• 10,000 gourmet breakfasts delivered to new mothers
• 6,500 hours of babysitting
• 6,000 hours of cleaning help
• 2,500 full Shabbos meals
• Hundreds of nights of rest and recovery support
Sarah returns with a clear conclusion: the chesed begun in Egypt continues to flourish in Crown Heights today.
As the campaign moves toward its $770,000 goal, Shifra & Puah also announced special donation opportunities, each paired with a meaningful raffle offering a unique connection to the legacy of the Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka.
A $180 “Relief for a New Mother” gift provides initial assistance to a mother and includes entry into a raffle for a Challah cover featuring rare material from the Rebbetzin.
The $360 “Pamper a New Mother” level offers a complete pampering package and includes automatic entry into the previous raffle, along with an additional raffle for a Tehillat Hashem siddur adorned with material from the Rebbetzin.
Those who choose to “Adopt a New Mother” with a commitment of $77 a month for ten months merit a full day of Shifra & Puah activity dedicated in their honor, together with entry into all raffles.
The message of the evening echoed the Torah’s blessing to the midwives, “Vaya’as lahem batim”—that through devotion to Jewish mothers and families, enduring homes are built. The women of Crown Heights, now true partners in this work, continue to build those homes every day.
The full video is now available, along with a shortened version created especially for WhatsApp Status sharing.
Shifra & Puah’s message is clear: the legacy continues—and it is stronger than ever.
