A miracle occurred on Monday afternoon in Sderot after a barrage of 10 rockets directly hit the southern Israeli city, and the Iron Dome defense system failed to intercept them.
One of the rockets hit the courtyard of the central Chabad House in Sderot, an area bustling with children and adults every day.
During the alert, Sderot Shliach Rabbi Moshe Zeev Pizem was in the courtyard to receive supplies for the soldiers. Against all odds, he managed to escape inside just seconds before the rockets exploded.
Damage was done to the courtyard and the front of the building, similar to 770, completed just a few months ago. Several fragments hit behind the “Kasam Menorah” famous in front of the Chabad House.
Sderot, located alongside the Gaza Strip, is one of the most targeted Israeli cities by Hamas and Islamic terrorists. In Sderot, about 60 residents were killed on Shabbos after armed terrorists infiltrated the city, took over the police station, and carried out extensive destruction.
On Sunday, residents remained indoors after a report of a terrorist of infiltrated the city. The Israel Defense Forces ordered residents of Sderot and the nearby Kibbutz Mefalsim to remain in their homes until further notice. “Due to the fear of terrorists infiltrating Sderot, [residents] should continue to lock themselves in their homes and stay near protected spaces and not go out for any purpose. Please lock doors and windows and continue to obey instructions,” residents were told.
A global humanitarian effort is underway on the streets of Sderot and other cities, as tens of thousands are left homeless, injured, frightened and scarred, in desperate need of the very basic of necessities. Click here to help now!
