School Holds a Tznius Runway

It was an inspiring, and deeply moving morning for the girls of Bais Chaya Mushka of Los Angeles, along with their Bubbies and mothers. Great women throughout the ages came to life on the bright red runway in the center of the school’s auditorium.

The Bubby Club of Bais Chaya Mushka is an exciting part of school! It is coordinated by Ms. Simi Raichik, and Mrs. Mushky Yiftach. The Bubby club was founded in honor of 2 very special bubbies in the community, Rebbetzin Raichik and Bubby Weiss, of blessed memory.

Being the third year’s “Generation Sensation” event of Bais Chaya Mushka’s Bubby Club, this program had quite a lot to live up to. Each year a unique theme is chosen, and on a Sunday morning in the month of Iyar, the girls are invited to bring their mothers and bubbies to watch them perform on stage, engage interactively, and enjoy a lavish brunch.

This year was “Women throughout the Ages.” With the idea which had been used throughout schools and Chabad houses worldwide, we highlighted Tzidkanios who lived in different time periods and places.

In order to make this a hands-on learning experience, BCM pulled out a Red carpet raised runway. Each costume was researched carefully giving the girls a real feel from where this specific woman came from. This presentation was a real life experience with a script that really spoke to the girls, leaving them a message from each Tzadeikis, infusing them with selfless giving, courage, fearlessness, Tznius, Mesiras Nefesh, and the many more traits that the women of our nation personify.

Each girl walked down the runway with grace and poise, acting out Rochel Imeinu, Miriam Hanavia, Rus, Kimchis, Solika, and Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka. The event was all about empowering the women of tomorrow who are the link in the chain of amazing women connecting each generation to the next.

In the words of Mrs. Ruchama Thaler, Morah and educator in Bais Chaya Mushka, “It was so empowering and inspiring to see our girls, mommies, and bubbies, learning about the women from our history in such a beautiful, entertaining, and dramatic way.”

Ending the show with, “We pay tribute to the women of yesterday, salute the women of today, and now we are proud to present the women of tomorrow”, the entire school walked down the runway to sing a finale song, written especially for this “Generation Sensation” presentation, thanking their mothers and bubbies for the important role they play.

They had their annual “Minute To Win It” races, all connected with the theme, for example, dressing in newspaper outfits, creating chains, multitasking, and more. A humorous video presentation created by Mrs. Rochie Charytan compared how things were done “then and now”.

To be sure that everyone takes away something tangible from what they’d learned, the morning climaxed with each girl painting her very own tambourine.
