In the early 1940s, the Frierdiker Rebbe sent Rabbi and Mrs. Moshe Yitzchok Hecht as shluchim to New Haven, Connecticut, to establish Yeshivas Achei Temimim Lubavitch.
For nearly 80 years, Yeshivas Achei Temimim Lubavitch – Southern Connecticut Hebrew Academy has been more than a school.
It has been a home.
For generations of students and families, SCHA has been a place where children grow in Yiddishkeit, Torah learning, and Chassidishe values, with pride in who they are as Yidden.
Here, every child is truly known. Each student is guided and nurtured not only toward success in limudim, but toward a life grounded in Torah, strong middos, ahavas Yisroel, and a deep connection to their Yiddishkeit.
From its earliest days, our mosad has carried a special bracha from the Rebbe — a reminder of what can be accomplished when a community joins together to build mosdos of Torah and Chassidus that shape the future of Klal Yisroel.
In 5731, at the dedication of Yeshivas Achei Temimim and Bais Chana in New Haven, the Rebbe sent a letter to those gathered to establish this new center of Jewish education.
The Rebbe wrote:
“Those of you who have followed the development of Achei Temimim of New Haven from the time it was initiated by my father-in-law of saintly memory to its present state, with the addition of the Bais Chana school, will not fail to see the Hand of Divine Providence guiding its destiny. It is certainly gratifying to the administration, faculty, and many friends who have been instrumental in achieving this stage. It is to be hoped that the time will not be long in coming when the present facilities will prove inadequate for the growing number of boys and girls seeking enrollment in these vital Torah institutions.”
Those words were written more than fifty years ago, yet today they feel almost prophetic.
As we stand on the threshold of our Charidy campaign, the Rebbe’s message resonates more strongly than ever. What began as a small seed of Lubavitch chinuch and shlichus in New Haven has grown into a vibrant and thriving mosad, devoted to nurturing the next generation of proud Jewish leaders and Chassidishe Yidden.
So much of the Rebbe’s bracha has already come to life before our eyes. Yet growth in Torah and Chassidus is never static. It is always meant to expand.
Today, it has become clear that we have outgrown the space that carried us this far. The growth of our school — and the dreams we hold for our children, now call for the next step.
Home Grown. Always Growing.
The new building we have acquired will allow our mosdos to continue growing and flourishing, beginning with Bais Chana Academy, while opening new opportunities within our current campus to strengthen and expand every division of the school.
This building is more than bricks and mortar.
It is a commitment to our children, to our families, and to the future of Yiddishkeit in our community.
The Rebbe taught that every Jewish child carries within them the promise of the future. When we invest in chinuch, we are not only building for today — we are shaping generations to come.
Every classroom built, every student inspired, every child strengthened in Torah, mitzvos, and Chassidus becomes part of a story that stretches far beyond the present moment.
This campaign is our opportunity to continue that story — to strengthen the mosdos of the Rebbe and ensure that the light of Torah and Chassidus continues to shine brightly in our community.
