Satmar Rebbe Hosts Delegation from Chabad

A delegation of Chabad rabbonim and mashpi’im was warmly received at the private residence of the Satmar Rebbe, Rav Aharon Teitelbaum of Kiryas Yoel, Monroe, New York, on Monday.

The meeting was held on the eve of Yud Tes Kislev, the day the Alter Rebbe was freed from prison in Czarist Russia for supporting the poor in Eretz Yisroel.

The Satmar Rebbe, a descendant of the Alter Rebbe, warmly received the delegation which presented him with the groundbreaking new Tanya Hasholeim set, which has revolutionized the study of the Tanya.

The delegation included:
• Rabbi Nochum Sternberg, former maggid shiur in Newark and mashpia at Oholei Torah;
• Rabbi Leima Wilhelm, mashpia of Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim in Morristown, New Jersey;
• Rabbi Chaim Shochat, Rav of Wesley Hills in Monsey and chaplain of the federal facility in Otisville, New York;
• Rabbi Yisroel Shimon Kalmenson, transcriber of the Rebbe’s Torah for Lahak Hanochos and a member of the Tanya Hasholeim Institute;
• Rabbi Chaim Shaul Brook, director of Lahak Hanochos and chairman of the Tanya Hasholeim Institute;
• Rabbi Yisroel Zilberstrom, editor at Lahak Hanochos and member of the Tanya Hasholeim Institute.

The mashpi’im shared with the Satmar Rebbe the tremendous importance of this historic publication, fulfilling the Rebbe’s holy wish—expressed nearly a century ago—to produce a fully clarified edition of Tanya.

Rabbi Brook noted that over 80,000 copies of Tanya Hasholeim have already been printed, with the current stock nearly sold out due to extraordinary demand across the Jewish world and in communities of every background.
