“As we gather here, first and foremost, I say thank you to the Almighty G-d for giving me the good progress in my healing to be able to join you here tonight,” Rebbetzin Miriam Cunin told a recent crowd of Jewish women gathered in California.
A Spa for the Soul event this month at Chabad of Brentwood was coupled with a Seudas Hodoah for Rebbetzin Cunin, wife of California’s Head Shliach Rabbi Shlomo Cunin who marked her 69th birthday this past Shabbos.
Still healing, yet healthy enough to speak and greet friends, she told participants that “It is the water of Mikvah that help wash away the last remnants of the horrific walls of exile.”
The event was organized by her eldest daughter, Shlucha Channa Hecht and her husband Rabbi Boruch Hecht, as a celebration of Jewish femininity and the Mitzvos given especially to women – Challah, Shabbos Candles and Taharas Hamishpacha.
“This wonderful Hakhel celebration is dedicated to the Mitzvah of Mikvah observance, the most powerful tool that G-d has given His people, to bring holiness in our lives,” Rebbetzin Cunin said.
“When a husband and wife keep the laws of Mikvah, G-d rests in their dwelling. From this comes generations of holy souls that continue on as a great bastion of strength for our people and for the entire world.”
Rebbetzin Cunin thanked “all of you for your spiritual efforts that have brought me this wonderful progress,” noting the campaigns for Tefillin, Shabbos candles and Mikvah that were dedicated to her merit.

Great to see such an elegant Mikvah event. So much thought into the detail. Can see the ladies were all so happy to be there. Uplifting to see so many young ladies as well, embracing this joyous and vital Mitzvah!
Have been thinking about the need to do a Mikvah Ladies Event in my community. ..Especially in the year of Hakhel. This truly gave me the final vision and push to do here!
