The management of the Razag Ballroom, a popular wedding venue in the heart of Crown Heights, is looking forward to reopening as soon as restrictions are lifted and it becomes safe to gather once again.
The hall’s manager Rabbi Moishe Schmukler said the hall is currently undergoing a full cleaning and sterilization, so as to be safe for use when events resume with the green light from the Governor and Mayor of New York City.
“We want to thank our customers for their good wishes and support, especially as they were going through the stress and uncertainty of not knowing when and how their children’s weddings would take place,” Schmukler told COLlive.
“Razag was badly hurt financially from the current situation. This time of year is usually our busiest season which helps us catch up financially for the winter,” Schmukler explains. “Instead, this entire season simply didn’t happen, setting us back considerably.”
Schmukler notes that they notified clients that they are “absolutely committed to refunding any deposits made for canceled events as soon as Simchas begin to resume. This is priority #1 for us, to make our clients happy, and we appreciate their patience and understanding in the interim.”
Parents expressed relief when they received word from Schmukler that the money would be returned to them in due time.
“Obviously the funds would be extremely helpful during this very difficult time,” one parent said and added her sincere thanks “for clearly going ‘above and beyond’ to make us whole.”
The Razag event hall, located in the Bnos Menachem School on East New York Avenue, was spearheaded by Rabbi Motti Gurary, founder and director of Bnos Menachem School, and fellow founder Rabbi Yosef Simpson, who dreamed of opening a hall to benefit the community. The 9,000 square-foot luxurious ballroom has adjoining rooms for the bride, groom and groom.
Schmukler says he is looking forward to having the hall filled with the sounds of simcha and music once again, as soon as possible.
“I look forward to celebrating your Simchas with you, G-d willing when we reopen, with an even greater appreciation of being able to gather for simchas and happy occasions together,” he says. “With wishes that we should merit to celebrate the ultimate simcha with Moshiach in Yerushalayim immediately.”
Thank you Moshe Schmukler for warmly and professionally walking us through our simchos. I bentch you and the whole CH community that you be busy with weddings and not c”v levayas. But I do thank you for carrying the burden emotionally, physically and sometimes financially, if needed with the rest of the chevra Kadisha. You do your job as a true Chesed shel emes – unnoticed. On behalf of all THANK YOU! May Hashem bentch us all that you be overwhelmed with Simchas only! S.P.
Best guy in the world
So nice to see this. I had ( was supposed to ) a Simcha in a hall in another frum neighborhood and unfortunately they are not returning deposits. Yasher Koach Lubavitch for true Ahavas Yisroel.
Thank you for mentioning the Chevra Kadisha – they are volunteers – they deserve a huge thank you, especially after this crazy time.
I’m one of those who had to cancel an event at razag due to corona. Another news outlet spread rumors that Moshe refused to refund deposits. Fake news! I was notified by email days before that rumor was published confirming we would be refunded in full. Thank u Moshe and thank u COL for setting the record straight
We’ve come all the way from Los Angels to do our weddings in the Razag Hall with Moishy Schmukler.
Would never have it any other way!
