Rabbi Yitzchok Springer, head mashgiach of Lubavitch Yeshiva 770 and a devoted chossid passed away on Sunday, 27 Nissan, 5773.
He was 81.
R’ Itche, as he was known, was a chossid dedicated to the Rebbe’s causes. He was a founding members of such organizations like the Shofar Association of America and the “Committee for the Integrity of the People” (Shleimus Ha’am).
He was heavily involved in shleimus haaretz and other causes to strengthen the country of Israel.
As a member of the hanhalah of the central Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch Yeshiva at 770 Eastern Parkway, he helped shape the lives of many bochurim and future chassidim with a personal interest and chassidic care.
At a farbrengen in the small ‘zal’ in 770, he once shared with the bochurim how he measured who is a chassidishe bochur: “Dormitory in Hebrew is called penimiah, which is similar to the word pnimi (intrinsic). You can tell a bochur’s character by what he keeps in his dorm room; What seforim are there. How do you know your room is ready to greet Moshiach? When you don’t mind the Rebbe walking in right now.”
He is survived by his wife, Aidel and children: Chaya Schildkraut – Brazil, Mendel Springer – Italy, Rivki Wolf – Crown Heights, Chaim Springer – Crown Heights, Chani Kagen – Crown Heights, and Leah Levine – California.
He is also survived by his brother living in Kfar Chabad, Israel,
The Levayah will take place today, leaving shomrei haddas at 1:45 pm and passing 770 at 2:15 pm.
Shivah will be at his home, 802 Eastern Parkway, 1st floor.

I remember in the week preceding Rosh Hashono 5742 before there was official extensive emphasis from The Rebbe on practicly bringing Moshiach, Reb Itche gathered quietly a select group of serious bochurim in a hidden apartment and he spent a few hours farbrenging ernestly looking together for ‘practical detailed suggestions’ just how to hasten the geulo shleimo in honor of the new year.
A real friend and an inspiring blessing. Always a source of encouragement. May H’comfort all those who mourn in Yerushalayim and Tzion. He had a very big influence on my life. I am very grateful to have known him.
His passing touches the soul. I just have good memories.

Reb Itche was the real thing.who did what was right regardless of what it will do to his popularity.

I was privleged to work with Rav Itche on isues of Mihu yehudi. Upon the direction of Rabbi Chodokov I printed many of his proclomations about mihu yehudi in the Chicgo Tribune he was printing them in the NY Times.I also handed them out to concervative converts at the mikva in Chicago in the 1980s.Subsequently I stayed at his house simchas torah My most vivid memory was coming home after hakofos exhausted shmini atzeres Rav Itche hadnt learned the three prokim of Rambam yet. Reb Itche a”h will always be remembered by our family as a very special person, a good neighbor and friend and very kind.
We will always remember how he called every yom tov, when necessary, to remind us of erev tavshilin.
His Chassidishkeit and Yiddishkeit was filled with joy and happiness, a smile always upon his face.
May he be a guteh beter for his family and for all Klal Yisroel.
May his family be comforted and know no more tzaar.

They should have only nachas and brochos and live until the coming of moshiach Omein. And Reb Itche Springers wife Adele Springer should have health and nachas from her growing family omein !
I remember helping him walk to and from 770 several times. He always felt like he was imposing on me, but I considered it an honor and a privilege to be able to help him.
