Despite his recent health problems, it was clear Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, has lost none of his humor when he was touring with his wife Elizabeth II to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee as Queen Of England.
Visiting the London boroughs of Redbridge, Waltham Forest and Harrow, they enjoyed an eclectic mix of music and dance and even got to meet a rabbi, Aryeh Sufrin, Head Shliach Ilford, Essex & North East London.
Sufrin, awarded the honorary rank of an MBE by the Queen in 2010, was one of the local community leaders and dignitaries invited to meet the Queen and the Duke.
Meeting the Chabad rabbi, Prince Philip engaged him in conversation about his community work and was told about Sufrin’s “drugs program for the wider community.”
“I thought that was against the law,” the Prince joked.
Rabbi Sufrin laughed and described Drugsline, the non-denominational drugs and crisis support service which plays a leading role in prevention programs by giving young people the opportunity and skills to take responsibility for their actions.
Sufrin has previously had the opportunity to speak with British Prime Minister David Cameron at a recent charity function and discussed his organization’s work.
