Pretoria Yeshiva Spends Uplifting Week in the African Bush

The yeshiva Lerabbonus Pretoria has launched a new initiative within the curriculum; a week in the African bushveld (known as the bush) for their “Discovery Program”.

The Discovery Program involves workshops and discussions over areas of life beyond the yeshiva years, “areas which yeshiva can and must prepare bochrim for,” says Rabbi Chaim Finkelstein, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Lerabbonus Pretoria.

“To build a home and a shlichus needs internal preparation too, and a setting outside of the city is ideal for such an exercise,” says Rabbi Finkelstein.

The extracurricular activities added to the benefits of sunshine, fresh air, and wide open spaces. For many bochurim, the time was transformative and has helped breathe life into their chassidishkeit.

“May that breath of life continue throughout their lives,” says Rabbi Finkelstein.
