President Donald Trump has been acquitted on both articles of impeachment against him after a vote in the US Senate on Wednesday afternoon.
Fox News reported that it was a historic rejection of Democrats’ claims that the president’s Ukraine dealings and handling of congressional subpoenas merited his immediate removal from office.
By a final vote of 52-48 against conviction on the abuse of power charge and 53-47 on the obstruction charge, the Senate fell far short of the two-thirds majority needed to convict and remove the president, it reported.
National Republican Congressional Committee chairman Tom Emmer quickly issued a statement saying he was “pleased” by the result.
“This should finally slam the door on the sick obsession these socialist Democrats have with harassing President Trump and his family,” Emmer said. “Nancy Pelosi needs to learn some self-control by suppressing her hatred of President Trump so she can finally start getting things done for the American people.”

He thinks he is a king. The evidence against him was overwhelming. His defense was pathetic and astounding at the same time.
No actual crime. Presidents are allowed to talk to counter-parties in other countries. Presidents should get assistance when needed for their administration to have all information to be able to investigate corruption by other U.S. citizens (the Bidens).
If Trump was a Democrat, you’d be screaming for his acquittal. We all know it’s just political theater.
I welcome any evidence you claim there is being presented here. This impeachment was a partisan sham and rightfully diminished along party lines. The President of Ukraine said there was no QPQ, there were never witnesses called in the House, there was no factual, documented evidence of QPQ occurring, and anything else was pure hearsay. There was nothing. This was a feeble, weakminded attempt at eliminating an opponent that couldn’t be defeated by conventional means. The Left got what it deserved.
