#3 didn’t seem to mean any harm, just seemed to want to clarify what he/she thought may be a misunderstanding. But even if the comment had been out of place, some of the aggressive and coarse-sounding responses to the comment were a chilul H’-shem and took much away from the sweetness and innocence of this story.

halachikly, its not so simple to have someone who is not obligated to put on tefilin, (i.e. a child or a female) do the action of placing tefilin on soneone who IS obligated. it should be done by an adult male (13) if possible
