As in prior years, CHJCC will be compiling a list of Crown Heights families eligible to receive Passover grocery cards from Met Council (AmEx cards).
This year the rules have changed. Every family will need to submit a signed application and a proof of address (utility bill) and proof of income.
Card amounts will be from $100 to 300, based on family size. Applications are available from Crown Heights Central, the social service center at 387 Kingston Avenue, or by email from [email protected].
Please submit as soon as possible, but before 4pm on Tuesday January 2.
This is a beautiful org. doing great things. I would suggest to just give a gift card to the store instead of these coupons. I have seen many be embarrassed in public having the clerk stare at the coupons, call the manager, tell the individual that they couldn’t take everything in their cart etc.
True Tzedakah should be as seamless and complicating for the recipient as physically possible.
Thanks again for all your hard work
Can you let us know what the income limits are per family size? Don’t want to go down for nothing, but don’t want to miss out it we qualify.
