Even as the U.S. economy remains in recession and many live within a restrained budget, a group of Crown Heights residents are showing that education is one area that should not be compromised.
A recently created advisory board for the United Lubavitcher Yeshiva is moving forward to help the boys school of 620 students on Crown Street with its financial burdens.
The committee is comprised of the following individuals: Itchik Orimland, Shmuel Brummel, Golan Ben Oni, Dovid Smetana and Shloime Feldman.
COLlive.com has learned that their first point of business is to focus on making a dent in the back pay owed from the past few years to teachers of preschool to 8th grade.
They succeeded in raising part of the money, and Thursday were thrilled to pass it along to the teachers in time for the shopping-heavy Pesach holiday.
In addition to helping financially, the purpose of the committee is to focus on building expansion, growth and development.
A member of the school’s administration has confirmed this information but didn’t want to elaborate, describing the committee as “a work in progress. We have a long road ahead.”
itchik I’m not surprised to hear about your commitment . Hashem should reward you for all the good u do.

I am sure the ULY board is fully aware of what happened at BR and they wouldnt be doing this if they knew they wont have the control that they need. That being said, BR can really use a board like this and its never too late. Hopefully this will inspire them to try again
That is correct as long as the board takes over. BR never let the board take over hopefully here ULY will follow Cheder LA and let the board take control
wishing you much Hatzlacha
Don’t forget, Lubavitcher Yeshiva has been around for longer than Bnos Chomesh and is a significantly larger school with more responsibilities. Just putting things into perspective.
And, by the way, Lubavitcher Yeshiva too treats its staff well. Quite a pleasure to work for them as well. Glad to hear that there are others schools out there who do the same.
Hopefully they will follow the lead of a dedicated board at Cheder Menachem in Los Angeles, that school is a shining star among schools, and has done nothing but thrive and expand since the board took over. Yasher Koach
Maybe they should learn from other schools. BH I teach at Bnos Chomesh which always pays its teachers and the checks have yet to bounce bh. They only hire a teacher if they have the ability to pay them and they treat their staff well. It’s a pleasure to work for them.
ALL YESHIVAS THAT ARE HERE TODAY WERE BUILT BY THE FUNDRAISERS!!!!!!!!!!!AND MR.23 WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WOKE AND SAID YOU NEED TO GIVE TZEDAKA
A FUNDRAISERS JOB IS TO REMIND YOU TO GIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they do not take off 50% and a proffesional fundraiser will get them alot of money, get money for the teachers and other staff and will get them 2 more floors
it’s about time that parents see themselves as partners with the school administration
Oholei Torah has had a board for years, that is why they are the only school in CH that is not in debt and is not behind in their teachers pay and the only school that the checks do not bounce!
Thank you Rabbi Simpson for your leadership and Chinuch for our kids!!! Thanks to you that the Yeshiva is still opened today
Yasher Koach and much Hatzlocho
That Golan Ben-Oni. What a guy.
may all the other schools learn from them!
maybe if people had thier priorities straight and paid full tuition before buying expensive clothes for thier small children the teachers would not be owed so much money in all our schools.
You should be gebentched with gezunt, parnasa and nachas!
Rabbi & Mrs. O – I am sure you are schepping a lot of nachas. You have taught your kids very well!
Each of our schools should have such a committee..
Go shmuly brummel! Keep up your good work
We are very happy to hear about this board and look forward to al
l they have to offer to our childrens mosad
Many parents do pay their full tuition!! and care about their daughter’s teachers. It is not right to say that parents don’t care, just because they may not shell out monitary gifts. I pay my girls’ tuition on time and in full – despite the high amount, and despite my Pre-1A daughter being on “main teacher” #3. You can imagine the compromise in what she learned this year! The big ?? is what happens with the money BR does receive – be it from tuition and/or grants/fundraising once they receive it? Why isn’t some decent amount of it being given… Read more »
always there to do chessed
Kudos to Rabbi Simpson for bringing in this group of parents. May you all be matzliach
go itchik!! all parents in all schools should learn from you!!
oh and heres a shout out to your amazing supportive wife!!!
BR would never give the board control or the information they need to help the school
Rabbi simpson gave over full control to the board and has full faith that the board will help the school grow
itchik way to be a leader……they shall see and they shall follow! Good luck
Hopefully now the board will make sure parents pay their share of tuition.
is shepping alot of nachas
These board members gave their money and time for the school. this article does not even say enough for what they have already accomplished may hashem give the entire board the koach to carry on and bentch them with all the gashmius to help the yeshiva and have nachas from their children
make your school your # 1 priority
this group deserves alot of credit! kol hakovod and much success in your involvement at the yeshivah
rabbi itchik orimland is a true gem in crown heights
you can rely on him to get things done!
thank you to all the members who took of their time for this important cause. May Hashem repay you for busying yourselves with acts of chessed and community needs
Yasher Koach!!
may H-shem bless you with overflowing wealth -gashmius and ruchnius!
At least there are still some people who have their priorities in the right place!
wow! that is so nice that people actually care! it would be amazing if bais rivkah would also have such a committee! from the 1000 +++ students there are , mb there are also just a few parents who actually care for their daughters education……….
Thanks to those that helped. May all of us have a Chag kasher veshomayach!
May this work in progress be a flower in success :)! Bimhera with Moshiach techef umiyod MAMOSH!
