Members of the Chabad community of Aubervilliers, joined by the Chabad community from across Paris and its surroundings, gathered to pay their final respects to the senior Shlucha, Mrs. Basya Kalmenson OBM.
Mrs. Kalmenson, who passed away at the age of 95, was the founder and longtime director of the Chnei-Ohr educational institutions, where she devoted decades to building generations of students and shaping the future of Jewish education in France.
Following the funeral in France, the aron will be flown to Israel for burial. The levaya will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, at 2:00 PM at Shamgar in Jerusalem, with burial at Har HaZeisim, near the resting place of her husband, the Shliach Rabbi Shalom Mendel Kalmenson OBM.
She is survived by her children: Beila Gansbourg (Milan, Italy), Rivka Lipsker (Crown Heights), Rochel Bruchstat (Crown Heights), Feiga Levitin (New Haven, CT), Leah Raskin (Australia), Sterna Deitsch (Migdal Ha’emek, Israel), Chaya Nisselevitch (Aubervilliers, France), Meir Simcha Kalmenson (Aubervilliers, France), and Yosef Yitzchak Kalmenson (Aubervilliers, France).
She is also survived by her siblings: Rivka Rubashkin – Boro Park, Meir Chazanow – Crown Heights, and Rochel Dagan – New Haven, CT.
Rabbi Meir Chazanow is sitting shiva for his sister Rebbetzin Basya Kalmenson at 570 Montgomery street. Visiting hours from 2-5 pm & 7-9 pm.
