After a two-year effort, Chabad of Washington Heights, New York, has found a new location in time for the High Holidays.
The new center, on the ground floor at 50 Overlook Terrace, became available as they were searching.
Shliach Rabbi Yakov D. Kirschenbaum, and his wife Elisheva, consider it “Divine Providence.”
“We could now have as many classes, farbrengens, etc. as we want,” said the couple, who until now hosted functions at their apartment at 188th Street.
The lease was signed on the 20th of Menachem Av, the yahrtzeit of Reb Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s father, who sacrificed himself for the strengthening of Torah and mitzvos.
Kirschenbaum also noted that Reb Levi Yitzchak’s birthday, the 18th of Nissan, is the day their twins were born.
So they decided to name the center “Beis Levi Yitzchak.”
Construction is underway, and they plan to have the center open in time for the New Year services.
