Oholei Torah Shluchim Farewell

Beis HaMedrash Oholei Torah celebrated a gala Tzeischem L’Sholom – farewell Thursday to the elite students who will be traveling to communities around the world as student Shluchim.

During the past year, the dedicated bochurim prepared for the merit of being a shliach of the Rebbe. Preparations included learning both Niglah and Chassidus, as well as being careful to attend classes and exhibiting Yiras Shomayim.

The students, their families, and friends, were joined by members of the community and the school’s principals and faculty in the Raitport Beis Hamedrash.

The event began with the Rebbe’s Kapitol read by the Mashgiach Rabbi Shmaryahu Roitblatt.

Rabbi Boruch Lepkivker spoke on behalf of the parents and Rabbi Yosef Raices spoke as one of the first teachers in Oholei Torah and also on behalf of the grandparents. Oholei Torah’s Executive Director, Rabbi Yosef Rosenfeld and Mashpia Rabbi Nachman Shapiro spoke on behalf of the Yeshiva.

The students who spoke were Daniel Shochet, Yosef Rivkin, Mendel Polter, Avrahom Aba Wolosow, Peretz Schapiro and Zalman Minkowitz. It was interesting to note that many of the fathers of the bochurim who spoke were students in Oholei Torah themselves.

A special mention was made in memory of Nosson Noteh ben R’Zalman Deitsch obm, a dear friend of many of the bochurim, who was a shliach from the Oholei Torah Zal just two years ago.

The official list of the Talmidei Shluchim will be released in a short while, but in order to accommodate everyone’s participation, the event was held just before the yeshiva Zman ends.

The evening was organized and chaired by Rabbi Nosson Blumes who runs the Alumni affairs of Oholei Torah.
