Over the past 24 hours, the NYPD has received reports about two possible bias incidents against the Jewish community.
The first incident occurred on Monday, December 15, at approximately 8:40pm onboard a southbound 3 train in Brooklyn. The NYPD has reviewed videos from the train car and from social media, and based on all of the footage and audio, we do not currently have evidence that this was a bias-based attack. There are comments on social media suggesting that antisemitic comments were made, but we do not currently have evidence of those comments. It appears that this originated over a dispute about seats on the subway. We have a person of interest we are looking for in connection to that incident for aggravated assault.
The second incident occurred this afternoon, Tuesday, December 16, at approximately 4:10pm near the corner of Kingston Avenue and Lincoln Place in Crown Heights. This incident originated as a seemingly random verbal interaction between two men. The eventual perpetrator walks away from the verbal dispute, and the eventual victim follows him down the block where they get into another verbal altercation that turns physical. At some point, the perpetrator pulls out a sharp object and stabs the victim. The victim then continues to follow the perpetrator across the street and down another block. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released from the hospital. At this time, we are investigating reports that this incident originated from antisemitic comments that were made by the perpetrator.
In the hours since, the NYPD has deployed dozens of additional officers to Crown Heights and the surrounding areas to search for the perpetrator. The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual depicted in the attached media who is wanted in connection with this stabbing.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident or who recognizes this individual is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or on X by DMing @NYPDTips. All calls are strictly confidential.

is chief ritchie taylor involved in this investigation? I think his involvement would give the frum community a level of reassurance that no one else has.
Why isn’t there an officer on every corner of CH?
Why are we letting both of these cases be considered Non Antisemitic?!?
Are you guys gonna just stay quiet till the next Photo Op opportunity?
Just FYI, NOBODY in CH cares how many pictures with elected officials you guys are in.
We didn’t vote you in to take pictures with cool people.
We want to see action!
Not just photo ops
It is easiest to reduce antisemitic attacks to “just domestic incidents” — to frame them as petty local conflicts, everyday violence, nothing more. But we know the truth. We know the real cause. Never Again does not begin with camps or borders. It begins when hatred is minimized. When words are excused. When violence is labeled as “just another dispute.” Small acts of hatred, left unchecked, grow — slowly, silently — into something malignant. And somehow, this conflict is convenient for many. But who are we in this story? Yesterday, during mivtzoyim, a man approached us and accused my child… Read more »

a few months ago I called the 77 precinct and mentioned that I never see a policeman or car past eastern parkway
“We don’t believe it was antisemitism. We’ll put out one or two extra officers to make you happy.”
Maybe we can prevent future assaults by taking a lesson from what she alleges happened in this crazy, upside-down world we now live in. But her words blame the victims. Our world has now become one where disputing over a subway seat can get you choked and your life threatened; or engaging with a stranger on the street can get you immediately stabbed. (Is anyone talking about knife-control now? Or are they still just hung up on guns?) In her speech hope that Ms. Tisch also included the fact that it shouldn’t be like that in a civilized world. I… Read more »
When Jews report that antisemitic comments were made, they don’t believe it and want more and more proof. When any other minority claims bigoted statements were made, they’re immediately believed.
