R’ Avrohom Gerlitzky, longtime beloved Magid Shiur in Oholei Torah, was presented with a proclamation issued by the New York State Assembly, celebrating his 75th birthday and presented in honor of his 20th Shiur of this year.
The citation, issued by the NY State Assembly in Albany, NY, was presented in honor of the beloved teacher’s “diverse scholastic and religious achievements” on the occasion of his 75th birthday.
The citation states that the Legislative Body is “jointly proud to commend Rabbi Avrohom Yitzchok Baruch Gerlitzky for his many years of dedicated involvement and selfless service to his community, and to wish him a very happy 75th birthday. It is also issued whereas “Rabbi Gerlitzky taught and mentored thousands of Oholei Torah students over five decades, and is recognized as a prominent and distinguished Talmudic lecturer.”
It also recognized R’ Avrohom’s role as a “prolific author and chief editor of the Haoros Ubiurim bi-monthly journal with over 1,100 editions to date.”
The bochurim in R’ Avrohom’s class presented the proclamation to him during his Shiur on Monday.
The Proclamation was issued through the assistance of Rabbi Yisroel Rubin, Head Shliach of Albany, with the assistance of his sons Rabbi Yossi Rubin, Rabbi Motti Rubin and son-in-law Rabbi Mendel Mathless.
The proclamation was the latest in a series of birthday celebrations prepared by his students this year, including a grand birthday party event and the leather-bound printing of his latest Sefer.
This could not have gone to a more deserving person.
