By a concerned voter
Every election year brings its share of emotion, but this one feels different. This is not a time for protest votes, for idealism, or for trying to “make a point.” This is a time for clear thinking and achdus.
Let’s talk about Zohran Mamdani.
On October 7, 2023 — the darkest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust — while Jews were still being murdered and taken hostage, before Israel fired a single missile or entered Gaza, Mamdani’s first instinct was to condemn Israel. Not empathy. Not shock. Condemnation. And he’s never apologized.
Since then, he’s shouted “Globalize the Intifada,” denied Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state, and proudly aligned himself with people who despise what we stand for. If such a man were to become mayor of the city with the largest Jewish population outside Eretz Yisroel — what message would that send? It would embolden every antisemite who’s been waiting for permission to come out of hiding. It would tell the world that hating Jews isn’t just tolerated — it’s mainstream.
And even beyond the Jewish issue — think practically. He’s spoken of replacing police with “social workers,” freezing rents, and piling taxes on small businesses. Picture New York under those policies for four years. We can’t afford that kind of “experiment.”
Now, about Curtis Sliwa. Curtis is a good man, sincere and outspoken, and many of us respect him. But let’s be real. He already ran in 2021 and lost by almost 450,000 votes, winning just 28 percent — and that was against Mayor Eric Adams, who barely survived his own Democratic primary. What’s changed? Are we suddenly expecting a heavily Democratic city to flip Republican — and not just close the gap, but beat Mamdani, who just won his own primary by 13 percent? We can’t build our hopes on fantasies.
Then there’s Andrew Cuomo. Yes, many in our community are angry at him, especially over the nursing home tragedy during COVID. It was a terrible, painful time. Families were broken. But let’s be honest — do we really think he wanted that to happen? COVID was chaos. No one — not governors, not mayors, not doctors — knew exactly what to do. Mistakes were made everywhere. So now what? We’re going to “punish” Cuomo at the ballot box? What do we gain from that? Does it undo the past? Or does it just open the door for something far worse?
COVID is over. That crisis won’t repeat itself. But what will shape our future is who leads this city for the next four years. Ask yourself — will we really be better off with Mamdani? With someone who condemned Israel on the very day Jews were massacred?
Less than 30 percent of registered New Yorkers voted in the primary. That means 70 percent — the quiet, working, family-raising people who don’t spend their days on Twitter and aren’t counted in the polls — still haven’t voted. Mamdani’s base already turned out. His ceiling is clear. Cuomo’s voters, on the other hand, are less vocal, less online — but very real. That’s where the growth is. There is a path forward. It’s not guaranteed, but it’s real — and with the help of Hashem, it can happen.
This isn’t about loving Cuomo. It’s about being practical. You can dislike him, you can still hold him accountable in your heart — but you can also recognize that he’s the only one standing between us and a disaster. Not voting for him doesn’t punish Cuomo. It punishes us.
Let’s be united. Let’s be smart. Vote Cuomo — not because he’s perfect, but because he’s possible. The alternative would be a disaster, and the stakes are simply too high.

If you truly believe in what you say and want others to follow your lead, you should not hide behind a pen name. If all the religious Jews voted with their conscience and had a backbone, Sliwa would come out ahead of Cuomo.
Btw, Covid isn’t over….those that created Covid, didn’t have a chance to finish.
Why is that always the first comment on COL “write your name” literally WHO CARES!!
You don’t seem good at arithmetic. Even if Sliwa were able to be ahead of Cuomo— and there are NOT enough religious Jews to make that happen— he has no chance to be ahead of Mamdani, as this would require the support of many Democrats in the city who will not vote for a Republican. And certainly not for an unserious Republican who looks like a clown. If Sliwa could consolidate those numbers, I would support voting for him to stop Mamdani, but the numbers just aren’t there. Cuomo is the one of the two who has a chance to… Read more »
I don’t understand, what connection does using a pen name have to do with the validity of the argument?
The fact of the matter is, Curtis Sliwa will NEVER become Mayor of New York City. And if you can’t understand that than that is the real problem.
And where’s your name? Why not sign your own?
I trust in ashem I believe in ashem …..
and please stop this articuls about politics don’t forget we are chsidim and our job is to bring light love toire mitzvot and Moshiach and the rebes light
The rest is not our shlichus
The Rebbe encouraged people to go out and vote in elections
I’m not either a fan of him but this election is not who is the best but who will BEAT MAMDANI
Coumo cannot beat mamdani. If mamdani wins it has nothing to do with sliwa voters and everything to do with coumo having been endorsed to defeat mamdani. Wrong strategy.
“Since then, he’s shouted ‘Globalize the Intifada.'”
This is not true. Mamdani has not used, let alone “shouted,” this phrase himself, and certainly not since October 7, 2023. He did initally refuse to condemn its use, but later did so.
Correction: He initially SUPPORTED its use. Just like he publicly praised the Holyland 5 terrorists who sent $12 million to Hamas. Mamdani is also close with Hasan Piker, a terrible antisemite and terrorist supporter who justified the October 7 attacks. And just last week Mamdani visited the mosque of Imam Siraj Wahhaj, an unindicted co-conspirator of the world trade center bombings and praised him. The fact is Mamdani is a violent antisemitic Jihadist who is a HUGE danger to the Jewish community. We need to do everything in our power to ensure he’s not elected, even if it means voting… Read more »
“Globalize the Intifada” was the phrase he refused to condemn. What he DID shout was “Free, Free Palestine” over and over, leading an entire protest/crowd: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMDKcuRxia4/
And you are probably related to the King of England and have a castle in the North Pole ! The world of today where people lie definitely knowing that everyone else have tangible proofs that they are lying unbelievable! How low are we going to continue to fall ? Mamdani is an Islamist end of the story financed by pro Islamists individuals and entities
Vote for the best candidate. That’s it.
The holocaust is over – time to give AH another chance.
He promises not to do it again
Holocaust? How dare you cheapen it like this? Mr. Cuomo behaved disgustingly toward the elderly during a pandemic. He did not support some Holocaust. For that you need to look no further than Mamdani. Sober up and stop imbibing insanity. His election can truly increase the threat to our people, from terrorist murder.
Andrew Cuomo resigned from governor due to 11 allegations of sexual harassment
People need to be realistic. It doesn’t matter who you want to win, the only way we can defeat Mamdani is if we get behind Cuomo. It doesn’t matter how much you like Sliwa, he has no chance of winning. Besides, Sliwa’s wife’s social media is full of extreme anti-Israel posts which are even more extreme than anything Mamdani has said. Cuomo isn’t great, but he is by far the best option, and the ONLY one who can defeat Mamdani. There are a lot of Republicans who recognize reality and are voting for Cuomo. Even the NYPost called for Sliwa… Read more »
It does matter
Vote sliwa
He’ll shut down the homeless shelters, send the illegals back home, clean up the corruption in government and lock up the career criminals.
All around excellent.
I get it that he won’t buy off our elites with funding for their useless pet projects like security cameras, jcm, jccc etc…. but that’s even better.
Rudy Giuliani endorsed him
He will never do any of that because he will never be mayor
Wake up
I’m voting for Curtis so should you
He doesn’t have a chance of beating mamdani
While his wife will work on the “ Jewish question “ Sliwa’s wife same as Mamdani
You can have your opinion which I believe is wrong and skewed and I can have my opinion. As soon as you mentioned Israel as being part of a reason to vote for someone you lost me. When was the last time that an NYC mayor had an influence over what’s happening in Israel or not?!. Israel should not be a deciding factor. Yes I would like the mayor to be friendly to Israel but that’s not what’s going to make a great mayor. In this election you have three anti-semites running. 1 an open anti-semite, can’t vote for him.… Read more »
Yes, he has many chesronos.
If you don’t vote for him, you’ll end up with a guy with WAY MORE chesronos.
Im not using logic because mamdani is winning so ill vote for who I want to vote for. Should have never endorsed coumo to begin with . Mamdani is winning because of coumo.
I’m voting for sliwa cause he’s the best option and everyone else should also and let’s see what happens.
Thats like saying, “Im driving to Florida bc it’s the best vacation spot’ IGNORING THAT FACT THAT ALL THE EXPERTS SAY A HURRICANE IS COMING!!!
A vote for coumo is a vote for Mamdani. Vote Sliwa!
You clearly endorse his wife hardcore antisemitism , Sliwa is staying in the race to make sure Mamdani wins
Why stay silent and anonymous?
Both are bad, but at least the state is more likely to oppose Mamdani
Because every time Zoran Mamdani wins an election, a confused pigeon somewhere in Queens suddenly understands basic algebra. It’s the kind of cosmic trade-off that keeps the universe barely holding together.
at least he wants to get rid of the guns. if we remove all guns, we get a safe new york
Vote for Zoran Mamdani because if New York keeps electing people who actually take the subway, sooner or later the MTA will realize it can’t keep running like a social experiment in human suffering. His existence in office alone would force bureaucrats to fix things—out of sheer embarrassment.
If you’re comfortable with someone who is not the typical white-collar politician, who brings a law-&-order plus grassroots twist, and you believe the city’s safety and outer boroughs are neglected, Sliwa could be a choice.
Moshiach now
What’s wrong with freezing rent?
Unless you’re a landlord that sounds pretty good. Some Wil argue that landlords won’t renovate or improve. That’s only slightly true. Landlords will improve what they legally need to, and anything that you want you can add on your own.
This is why Mamdani will win, because nobody can explain why someone who speaks affordability is wrong.
Should tenants pay rent? Of course! But this greed of hiking up prices so realtors and landlords are filthy rich is abhorrent. Most people dont actually want socialism but capitalism out of control where you have the 1 percent and the poor is also extreme. How come noone ever talks about extreme capitalism without ethical limits?!?!
They won’t fix it. They will leave it vacant. Bc it won’t be worth fixing. And guess what? That drives up the value if non rent stabilized apartments (you know, supply-demand). There are actual rules to economics. AI: The exact number of vacant apartments in NYC is unknown, but recent estimates range from thousands to tens of thousands, with significant numbers of rent-stabilized units being held vacant by landlords. A 2021 city survey found over 42,000 vacant rent-stabilized apartments, while landlord self-reporting indicated a higher figure of around 61,000 in 2021. More recent data shows a decline in rent-stabilized vacancies,… Read more »
I’m a renter and struggling financially as much as anyone, but would happily pay more in exchange for not having an antisemite run the city. How many dead Jews is worth the few dollars rent freeze? Is a few dollars really worth the terror and antisemitism that Mamdani will inflict on the Jewish community?
Last person to leave NYC should turn off the lights .. it’s all over
We should all be safe
Mamdani is winning because of the greed of high class millionaire billionaire in high positions, jews and non jews ,religious and non religious. Yes its bad ,yes socialist communism is bad but if those yielding power wouldn’t endorse the same corruption over the safety and affordability of the average shmos, than mamdani would at least have a more competitive opponent . This is what people are sick of
LETS TALK ABOUT THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM
KATIE HOCHUL THE GOVERNOR SUPPORTS MAMDANI FOR GOVERNOR, A VIRULENT ANTI ISRAEL LIBELLER, HAMAS JIHADIST APOLOGIST, AND ANTI SEMITE, WHO REPEATEDLY SAID HE WOULD CARRY OUT THE ARREST WARRANT OF BIBI NETANYAHU IF HE STEPPED INTO NEW YORK, AND WHO HAS NEVER CONDEMNED THE MURDER OF 1,200 ON OCTOBER 7TH. WHY HAS SHE SUPPORTED THIS LOW LIFE JIHADIST IN A SUIT?, TO FURTHER HER POLITICAL CAREER. SHE SHOULD NEVER BE INVITED AGAIN TO CROWN HEIGHTS OR VOTED FOR IN ANY ELECTION. CROWN HEIGHTS COMMUNITY COUNCIL, SHAME ON YOU!!
The relationship with crown heights leaders and elected officials stays there, doesnt affect us. They live in this bubble and in their own world, they are clueless to our needs and we never even elected half of them. You can see the ones we actually elected also got together with sliwa .
I keep telling everyone this. And so pathetic how ( I don’t want to say names but their hochuls good friends. She is evil!) enough voting for dems, it’s against Halacha to vote for the dem party terrorists . Wake up Yidden
Do not let friends and family members and community hot shots make you feel insane and guilt tripping you for voting for sliwa. I cannot reiterate this enough. If mamdani wins it will be coumo and the powerful who endorsed him and raised his campaign. There is no democrat strong enough to beat mamdani in this race. Sliwa deserves my vote. If you always wanted to vote for him anyway ,you are not doing any harm to anyone. Coumo supporters could take a seat.
Because you are disconnected from reality and shooting our communities in the foot
The community heads advising you all to vote for coumo like sheep and who endorsed him are the only ones benefiting. Theyre scared bec sliwa doesn’t take bribes so now they won’t get government money fir their projects and will have to pay taxes and follow laws. Guess what, sadly , all of the votes coumo is getting sliwa would have gotten, so you should ask your community leaders why they endorsed coumo and what’s in it for them
Mamdami comes with AOC and Bernie Sanders.
And probably Kamalala.
Just look to London with its Muslim mayor to see what our future will be.
Oy Oy Oy
Moshiach Now!!!
Sliwa is the purrfect purrson for New York’s purrposes. He will CATer for New York with purrsistence. He will avoid CATastrophe and deal with what is purrtinent. He will be the CATalyst for purrminent changes in every CATegory that will CATapult New York to purrfection.
too bad one can’t vote who they want and is manipulated into voting for who can prevent who you don’t want. i think that most people voting for cuomo are doing so to try to avoid mamdani, and most people who’d vote for sliwa would do so because they want sliwa. anyway – if the combined votes for sliwa and cuomo aren’t more than what mamdani got the whole convo is moot
Let’s be real here. *Cuomo* is the spoiler candidate here, not Sliwa. Not to mention that the “logic” here doesn’t check out. “Now, about Curtis Sliwa. Curtis is a good man, sincere and outspoken, and many of us respect him. But let’s be real. He already ran in 2021 and lost by almost 450,000 votes, winning just 28 percent — and that was against Mayor Eric Adams, who barely survived his own Democratic primary. What’s changed? cant wait for him to win!
LET THIS SINK IN
Republican leads NY Governor Hochul one year before the election. WE CAN AND SHOULD VOTE REPUBLICAN
The slogan at Mamdani’s rally.
I think they think we Yidden ARE THE RICH! 😱
The amount of people who would vote for sliwa is the same amount voting for coumo now bec theyre fooled by community leaders that dont care . Its frustrating to realize but this . But time to vote for sliwa and move on. Breaking news anyway is that curtis sliwa is at a tie with coumo. Even the ny post has a different headline today than they did yesterday. Go curtis sliwa!
Yes, he did know “what he was doing” regarding the nursing homes. There were honest mistakes. This was not one of them. He didn’t care at all to save the seniors, quite the opposite and NY had the highest per capita deaths in the entire US. This was no mistake. You can make the argument to vote for a callous one who caused deaths and knew what he was doing over someone who would defund the police and risk more lives and chaos, even though that first candidate also was a lead “champion” of lifestyles that ruin society and have… Read more »
