Fast fashion is out. Upcycling is in. Thrift shops are the new trend, and it’s changing the way we shop for clothing. Instead of purchasing new and unused items, you can now buy something affordable and previously loved by someone else.
While the concept is popular across Brooklyn and worldwide, it hasn’t quite infiltrated the frum community. On the contrary, modest clothing remains priced at an all time high.
That is, until two women in Crown Heights decided to do something about it. When Sarah and Lieba began collecting clothing in January, they had no idea how successful the project would be. Just a few months later, they hosted their very first pop-up shop, with hundreds of articles of clothing for women of all sizes.
Nifted started off with a vision: to offer clothing that is both modest and affordable. But it’s more than just another store – it’s a community effort. Every contribution keeps the cycle alive. When someone donates clothing, they’re joining a collective community that values sustainability, connection, and purpose.
At its heart, Nifted is about “upcycling” – giving pre-loved clothing a second chance, reducing waste, and allowing someone new to love it all over again. It also gives others the opportunity to find unique pieces they wouldn’t have found anywhere else.
“Yesterday’s favorite can become tomorrow’s treasure,” they shared when asked about the project. “Something that doesn’t quite fit you like it used to, may just be useful to someone else!”
With all of the Tishrei expenses and recent upsurge of inflation, Nifted gives everyone the chance to buy something unique and beautiful for Yomtov. Their biggest priority is keeping prices low – as low as $3 for some items! That way, your biggest concern is finding something you LOVE instead of worrying about your bank account.
The energy at last Sunday’s pop-up shop was electric! A lively group of women came together to shop, connect, and have a great time. Everyone was surprised at the variety of clothing and how affordable they were, and most walked out with gorgeous new pieces for Rosh Hashanah.
Due to the huge success of Sunday’s pop-up, Nifted is hosting another shop this coming Sunday!
Whether you want to donate pre-loved clothing or purchase something special for Yomtov, this pop-up is all about you. For 3 hours only, stop by for a pre-Rosh Hashanah shopping experience that is fun, trendy, and community-centered.

This concept actually has infiltrated the frum community, just not in Crown heights! But I’m glad it is now, it’s a very good thing.
