Bais Schneur Zal has announced that Rabbis Leibel Baumgarten, Schneur Tarlow and Aharon Levitin will be joining their staff.
Rabbi Tarlow, who is known for his knowledge, clarity, patience, and understanding, will be running the Yeshiva’s new Gemora and pre-Smicha Programs.
Rabbi Levitin, with his incredible ability to relate to and engage with Bochurim, will be teaching morning Chassidus and Gemora.
Rabbi Leibel Baumgarten, head Shliach of the East End, will be overseeing the policy and growth of Bais Schneur and will be coming periodically throughout the year to interact and Farbreng with the Bochurim.
“Having seen the progress and energy this past year when the Yeshiva was located near us in the Hamptons, I agreed to join the Yeshiva myself,” says Rabbi Baumgarten. “I see tremendous opportunity for Bochurim to grow in all areas, especially with the warmth and personal attention that each Bochur receives at Bais Schneur.”
Below is an overview of the new Learning Programs the Yeshiva will offer:
Gemora L’iyun:
Daily Gemora learning begins in groups of 3-5 Bochurim, divided by level of learning, with a Shliach. The groups cover the Gemora inside with Rashi and select Tosfos.
Following group study, are lessons divided into two levels.
Level One learns the Sugya in Depth with Tosfos and Meforshim with Rabbi Tarlow. Level Two goes over the original Gemora, Rashi and select Tosfos with Rabbi Levitin, while writing in the translation, punctuation and concepts to develop crucial Gemoro learning skills and ensuring that the student has a full grasp of the Sugya.
Once a student graduates from Level Two, he can move up to Level One.
The focus of this set up is that each Bochur is given the proper attention to ensure that his learning needs are met, while being challenged and developing crucial Gemora learning skills.
Pre-Smicha:
Led by Rabbi Tarlow, the Bochurim learn Sugyos in Halocho starting with the Tur, Beis Yosef and some of the sources quoted there, followed by Mechaber, Ramoh, Shach, Taz and later Poskim.
The objective is for the Bochurim to have an understanding and familiarity of the structure of Halacha and how to learn a Sugya in Halacha on their own.
The Sugyos that we are learning are Ma’acholei Ak”um and Shabbos which are often required to be learned before receiving Smicha.
Chassidus Perspectives:
Daily Shiur led by Rabbi Eichenblatt, addressing topics that are often on the minds of many Bochurim.
The discussion-based Shiur encourages the Bochurim to engage their minds and hearts and ensure that the ideas being discussed are fully resonated and internalized by the Bochurim.
The Shiur examines Chassidus’ definition of areas in our daily lives. (Personal identity and values, Bayis Yehudi, Davening, Hiskashrus, Yomei Depagra, self-esteem, manners, self-awareness, importance of family, discipline, mental, emotional and physical health.)
Occasional text-based learning of Kesser Shem Tov, Tanya, and select Sichos of the Rebbe and the Frierdiker Rebbe.
The objective of this Shiur is that the Bochurim see everything in their lives through the lens of Chassidus, going on to live the life of a vibrant, committed and healthy Chossid.
