Mrs. Faige Rodal, a known fixture in the Jewish community in Montreal, has passed away on Monday, 4 Teves 5773.
She was 99 years old.
Beloved by many, she was instrumental in strengthening the Jewish identity and education in the large Canadian city. She merited to received precious kiruvim from the Rebbe.
Her late husband, Rabbi Yosef Rodal OBM was one of the legendary 9 Shluchim the Freierdiker Rebbe sent to the city to develop Jewish institutions and the Lubavitch community there.
He also served as the principal of the Rabbinical Collage of Canada, the building on Westbury in Snowden that is home today to the large Chabad shul, pre school, cheder and more.
In later years, Rabbi and Mrs. Rodal founded the Rodal’s Hebrew Bookstore & Gift Shop which has been the primary source of seforim and Judaica items for decades now.
She is survived by her children R’ Berel Rodal of Ottawa, Rabbi Shmuel Rodal of Milan, Italy; Rabbi Menachem Rodal of Los Angeles and Chana Reizl Kagan of South Miami, Florida; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The levaya will take place Monday at 2:00 PM from Chesed Shel Emes at 935 Ave. Beaumont in Montreal.

The Rodal family is sitting Shiva after the passing of Mrs. Faige Rodel in Ottawa at the home of her son Berel Rodal, and he along with Rabbi Shmuel Rodal of Milan, Rabbi Menachem Rodal of Los Angeles and Mrs. Chana Raizel Kagan of North Miami are all sitting together there.

We remember her visits to her family when they lived in Detroit and how friendly she was to everyone here. She was a wonderful lady!
