The Shifra and Puah organization, which provides assistance to new mothers in the community, will be celebrating 4 years with a dinner event.
The organization, which was founded 4 years ago by Nshei Chabad for Hebrew speakers in Crown Heights, was eventually expanded to include many families in the neighborhood who are in need of support and assistance after giving birth.
In the past four years, the organization has helped hundreds of new mothers with nutritious breakfasts delivered for two weeks, Shabbos meals, gifts, cleaning help, babysitting and driving. Bais Rivkah students volunteer to help with older children as well, giving the new mothers a chance to rest.
The organization has plans to continue to expand and grow its operations to continue to help many more families.
“We hope to add more hours to the amount of cleaning help we provide, as well as to start subsidizing visits to a rest home for new mothers,” the organization’s director said. “We ask the community to come together to help our own by participating in our upcoming dinner and raffle.”
The event will take place Wednesday evening, Rosh Chodesh Shvat – January 21st at Lubavitch Yeshiva.
A rare $20 bill given by the Rebbe in a unique designer frame will be raffled off at the event. A donation of 12 payments of $36 each will enter you in the raffle. Those who cannot attend the dinner and want to buy tickets to support the organization, contact Michla (347) 405-3431 or Shlomit (917) 753-1148.
To donate or to volunteer contact Chani (718)755-9870 or [email protected].
wow thank you they helped me wow and i dont speak hebrew wow thank you again
We would have loved to give breakfast to every mother in our community, they all deserve it!!!
But due to the fact that we are small and dependant on volunteers we give priority to mothers who don’t have relatives, mother or mother in law living here…but if we have room that week , we gladly give to everyone.
please come to the dinner and support us:)
Does this organization help all lubavitcher women who have given birth, or only hebrew speaking lubavitcher women?
I just had the experience of receiving breakfasts from them. Not only did it ensure I ate good healthy breakfasts/lunches for those 2 weeks, the women putting it together make sure to think it through to include things like sour cream which will help the mother, and they also include little personal touches. Like a ribbon, nicely wrapped cutlery, little ducky or bottle brush, – something that makes you feel like you’re getting real food from real people rather than another hospital meal.

Good Luck!
When my wife had a baby this wonderful organization brought a COMPLETE breakfast every morning!
Keep up the good work.
