Mordechai Chassin, a young Chabad husband and father of 5 from Beer Sheva, Israel, passed away on Thursday, 20 Av, 5781.
He was 38 and passed away from complications from coronavirus.
Mordechai did not suffer from previous medical conditions, but was not vaccinated against covid. He became infected recently, and had difficulty breathing. He was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit and placed on a respirator. His condition deteriorated quickly, and tragically he passed away today.
Dr. Moti Klein, Director of the Soroka Intensive Care Unit, said, “Unfortunately, the fact that he was young and did not suffer from previous illnesses did not help him fight the serious illness. This tragedy only emphasizes the importance of vaccination. Before the vaccine was available, the condition of many of those who contracted the virus worsened quickly and unfortunately, some did not survive. It is important to recognize the severity of the disease, and right now when the vaccine is effective and available to go and get vaccinated.”
Mordechai was known as a devoted Chosid of the Rebbe, and was one of the pillars of the Chabad community in Beer Sheva in recent years.
He is survived by his wife and five children.
