A sold-out crowd of 700 piled into the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall for the Jewish Comedy Fest in Montreal, to aid Chabad of NDG and the Loyola campus, under the leadership of Rabbi Yisroel Bernath.
The show featured two Jewish comedians and a world-renowned mentalist, Montreal’s own Joey Elias and Yisrael Campbell from Jerusalem and Marc Salem direct from Broadway.
“Montreal is a humorous city,” explains Rabbi Bernath of his decision to present comedy for the evening’s entertainment. “It was a natural choice.”
Television and fashion show host Rachelle Segal was the evening’s emcee.
“The typical young Jew that I know won’t attend a class, but they will come to a professional show,” Segal says. “There will be elements of Judaism without it being too overbearing. There’s a definite positive vibe when you’re involved with the Jewish community.”

using Mumbai like this, i don’t know, rubs me wrong way. a little too calculated maybe? the ending also doesn’t sit nicely on me–i miss the old chabad happy optimistic…not threatening Jewish exitinction G-d forbid if you don’t support my org. let’s leave that for ADL.
