A record large parade of 25 Mitzvah Tanks and 250 Car Menorahs drove around New York City Motzei Shabbos, sharing the message and light of Chanukah.
The Mitzvah Tank Organization, which began planning and strategizing for this year’s Menorah Parade months ago, was pleased with the great success of this year’s parade.
“We set out to make this year’s parade the largest and most successful ever, and thank G-d, we were able to accomplish that,” said Mordy Hirsch, parade director. “We were fortunate to be able to spread the light of Chanukah throughout the streets of New York City, uplifting thousands of people with the light and joy of Chanukah.”
Thanks to the efforts of Devorah Halberstam, NYPD liaison and community activist, an increased amount of NYPD Highway patrol cars were available to escort the parade, led by Sergent Sesack from highway 2. This in addition to a change in the parade route contributed to “the parade being much smoother this year,” said Moishe Schmukler, co-director of the Mitzva Tank Organization.
“The Mitzvah Tank Organization would like to thank each family that had a Menorah atop their car for participating in the annual Car Menorah Parade,” said Hirsch. “We also thank all anash and their families who joined in the Rebbe’s call of Mivtzah Chanukah and persumei nisah.”
“The Mitzvah Tank Organization would like to thank our VIP’s who did a phenomenal job leading the parade through the streets of New York, as well as all the Mitzvah Tanks and tankistim,” Hirsch said.
The Mitzvah Tank Organization also thanked the NYPD Highway Patrol and the 71st Pct. for their assistance in making the parade possible.
The Mitzvah Tank Org. would like to thank all the Tankistim who dedicated themselves to to make sure the chanukah mitzvah tank project was a success.

The parade was organized by the Mitzvah Tank Organization, under the auspices of Lubavitch Youth Organization. “The Menorah Parade is a wonderful way of bringing the spirit of Chanukah and the light of Chanukah ‘to the people’ as the Rebbe wants” said Rabbi Shmuel Butman, director, Lubavitch Youth Organization and Chairman, Mitzvah Tanks Organization.

It was really uplifting to see people dancing to the pickup truck with the speakers and lights. Everyone loved it!
I want to thank Dovid botvinnikov for arranging a beautiful pickup truck with music and lights it just added so much more to the parade, thanks
Farovrite part was seeing a bunch of bochurim in a van they were so involved giving out menorahs everyone’s on the street was asking for one, even the goyim! They made a true kiddish HaShem and did real persumei nisa. This is what we need our bochurim to be doing!!!
Yes that’s mesivta Lev temimim Monsey
MLTL rocks the house
Been taking my children for years, this was the smoothest most well organized parade ever! Gathering everyone on the bridge gave time for dancing! Can’t thank everyone involved enough! And loved the pickups, totally added!
That pickup with the huge speakers and lights made the atmosphere 🙂
wow wow thank you so much for sharing Amazing Kiddush Heshem
Was the best ever!!!
We were downtown on the street. The parsumei nisa made such a shturem! Some passersby didn’t know it was Chanukah! Is there any aerial photos?
Was a driver this year on a Tank, and I most say from my point of view (front) it was a big Kidush Hashem
warmth & joy of Chanukah & Yiddishkeit, and possibly ignited more than
a few disenfranchised neshamas, beautiful, משיח כאו!
Don’t forget them.
Powerful message iof chanukah.
Every Jew is important. Even if you are a dreidle instead of a menorah, you are still a vital part of klal Yisroel.
Achdus brings moshiach
This year’s parade was incredible!
Kol hakavod Chaim Levilev!
