R’ Nachum Markowitz’s fleet of trucks carrying thousands of pounds of food and overflow pallets lining eastern Parkway are a hallmark of Tishrei in Lubavitch.
Now in its 42nd year (and 6th Hakhel) the annual Kidushim and distributions were blessed, encouraged, and promoted by the Rebbe and have been enjoyed by generations of Chasidim.
Thousands of pounds of meat, fish, artisanal salads and dips, vegetables, fruit, beverages, breads and mezonos will nourish thousands over Yom Tov.
In his usual manner, Markowitz is thankful to his donors and partners when praised about the project.
This year’s coordinated distributions are being sponsored by key partners in the program including the principal donor Rabbi Yitzchok and Rebbetzin Shaindel Raitport. Before Yom Tov, R’ Nachum Fabrenged with Rabbi Raitport and recorded some of their conversation. The Rav and Gaon described his relationship with the Rebbe particularly as it relates to the publishing of the various series’ of Seforim that the Rav authors on Rambam and Halacha. The voluminous Seforim includes dozens of volumes of “Toras Bedvar Melech” among other sets. The Rov just published the 19th Sefer on the Rambam, covering the complex laws of Nachlaot. A 20th volume is to be published soon.
Rabbi and Rebbetzin Raitport have been the main sponsors of the Kidusha Raba marking the Yartzeit of their son Shalom Dovber OBM who passed away on Simchas Torah morning 5761 upon returning from Tahalucha.
Massive signage adorning the trucks on Eastern Parkway and Kingston Ave honor the key sponsors of this vast Tishrei-long project: Yerachmiel and Rivkah Leah Jacobson and Simon Jacobson, the Davidof and Nachshinov families, the Gansbourg family, the Levi family, the Steinberg families, the Kabachnik family, the Drizin family, SBA Loan Group, the Raskin family of Raskin’s Fruit, the Hadad Family of Ess and Bentch as well as members of Anash.
When the Kidushim were getting started 42 years ago, answers from the Rebbe as well as official coordination was arranged by Rabbi Laibel Groner. Rabbi Binyomin Klein graciously assisted the Kidushim throughout the years. A moving tribute in memory of the late Mazkirim is prominently displayed.
Supporters of all levels have reported experiencing tremendous blessings through their support of the Kidusha Raba.
