On Wednesday the Bochurim of Yeshiva Beis Menachem of Manalapan NJ, together with their Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Levi Y. Schapiro, took a trip to Vineland in south Jersey, where they toured a shlachthouse and poultry processing plant.
This trip was part of their learning for Smicha and provided a hands-on experience of the kosher meat processing, including the laws of Melicha (salting) which they are currently learning.
The local Shliach Rabbi Yisroel Rapaport joined them, to show the Bochurim the plants as well as the practical side of preparing kosher meat and poultry.
While in Vineland the Bochurim visited the local Chabad House and Shul which is over one hundred years old, and is still actively running.
