A perpetrator was arrested on Friday afternoon after threatening to kill multiple Jewish people and blow up a synagogue in Crown Heights.
The incident began at approximately 6:30 PM near Montgomery Street and Kingston Avenue when the perpetrator shoved an elderly Jewish man and threatened to kill him. The perpetrator then proceeded up Kingston Avenue, confronting additional Jewish pedestrians with death threats while getting aggressively close to their faces and attempting to punch one victim.
Throughout the incident, he spewed antiSemitic slurs, including an explicit threat “I’m going to come back and blow up your whole synagogue and shoot up everybody.”
Crown Heights Shmira quickly responded and contained the situation. Responding NYPD officers subsequently arrested the suspect on St. John’s Place.
Reports indicate the same individual was involved in another incident approximately an hour prior outside 770 Eastern Parkway.
Please be aware of your surroundings. In case of an emergency, call 911 and Shmira 24/7 at 718-221-0303.
