Dan Eleff, a Lubavitch resident of Cleveland and life-long sports fan will be throwing out the first ceremonial pitch at the 7th World Series game tonight.
Eleff, who is a 5th generation Clevelander and self-proclaimed “diehard Indian’s fan” is the founder of the Dan’s Deals website, specializing in mileage and travel point deals.
Eleff won the chance in a Starwood Auction to throw a ceremonial first pitch before the final game of the World Series.
The Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians will face off tonight in the 7th and final game of the World Series at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
Eleff will be pitching just before Jim Thome, a former Major League Baseball player from 1991 to 2012, whose statue stands just outside of the ball park.
“It’s a lifelong dream come true,” Eleff said. “I’m no athlete, not by any stretch of the imagination. But just the experience to be on the field before game 7 in the World Series will be incredible,” he said.
I’m in complete agreement with you.
Don’t waste those precious points.
to 9qs because they are the champions of the world!
Imagine the Cubs stadium, overcrowded and too small to start with, with people making way for the WWII veterans shuffling in. They have been waiting all their lives for this game, and they are not going to miss it. All the hype, all the emotion, coming from years and years of belief in a team that just kept losing. They kept losing, but their fans kept believing. They kept losing, and Chicago still wore their sweatshirts and caps, emblazoning their cars with strong messages of support and hope. One hundred and eight years! As an avid Moshiach fan, I related… Read more »
indians anyhow lost ..
The comments to the article you mention did not express outrage at all. In fact most were sympathetic, however, the point that was made was that in truth, we as Jews do have better things to do with our time. It’s just that, myself included, we’re not on that level yet! Therefore baseball is an acceptable relaxation outlet, just don’t be too shocked if an incident of that kind occurs in today’s social and political climate.
… is why the cubbies won!

To #19. Dan has enabled at least 100’s of hidden if not thousands to fly to many many simchos or have vacations or fly for whatever purpose they had. Who knows how many shidduchim came about because of people flying places due to deals they found on the blog. Many people save money and are able to get many nice things because of all the deals. Dan is absolutely entitled to enjoy his points however he likes. Fagin him.
Some comments here are so sad. You people have nothing better to do than put down someone who’s a huge philanthropist and does so much for communities around the globe? Dang.
So happy that he got his dream. Even happier that he has $20k worth of SPG points to splurge on it.
The article posted a while back of Frum Jew being harassed at a baseball game sparked outrage from the commenters noting that a frum Jew should not be attending a baseball game.
Now heres a lubavitcher attending a baseball game and everyone is congratulating his life long dream.
Pretty funny community.
I love sports but i just noticed the dichotomy in responses
So lucky but why are you a Indians fan?
Let’s rally fogether and win this!
Not to be a spoiler, BUT imagine how many people could use those points to travel to Simchas or for other important purposes or Chas v’Shalom, emergencies.

chi-town lubavitcher through out the first pitch this year, and that very pitch BEGAN the historic, massive winning streak… and the rest is history.
what is the takeaway????
mashiach is here.
Since the World newspaper used to sponsor the tournament. Even though the paper went defunct they still maintain the name.
Israel is the Jewish world and America is also a great country! 🙂
I’m totally with you
GO CUBBIES
Oh, man! I wish I could fulfill my lifelong dream… 🙁
By the way, it’s called the world series, because America IS the world. The other countries just got there by accident.
Good luck
Canada too!
World is not referring to the world as in the whole wide world. It’s referring to the magnitude of the series.
It is very cool to throw out the first pitch, bit go cubs
spending over a million points worth over 20k….wow is all I can say. Enjoy that pitch. I wish we were as dedicated to Torah as he is to the Indians…but remember … go CUBS because the CUBS waited so long. G-d bless Dan and may the CUBS win
Why is it called the world series when only teams from the United States play?
But how is he also making money/points on the deal? Count on Dan!
to 6: haha 🙂
Who says it’s the first pitch? Shows a legend baseball player doing it
Baseball season’s underway
Well you better get ready for a brand new day
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today
They’re singing
Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today
Good luck Dan.
Thanks for all you do.
-Mendy
good luck!
